Disappointment...305/70/18 are too big!

3" leveling kit installed last night. paid and mounted these 18x10 -12 offset with 305/70/18 but the tires are too big! gotta return them for 295/70/18

 

Even 295/70/18 will rub like mofo. The width and offset are the problems. I have 18x9 with +18 mm offset wheels and my tires are few mm away from the body mount. Also the tires were rubbing the fender liners. I did the fender liner mod, but fortunately I didn't have to cut the body mount. I have 3 & 1/2 inch OME lift.

 

Swap em out for 0 offset wheels and I think you'd be fine...

25 should work fine. With lower offset, the body mount is the problem and the lower offset will get you closer to the body mount. With 3/1 level kit, if you go with 0 offset, the largest diameter tire you could fit is around 33. Sweet spot for Tundra seems to be around 30-35 offset (all this assume 9 inch width, the most common one).

I'm looking to get the rugged look with the rims and tires bulging out without having to trim any part of the body. any suggestions help. notice I do have a 3/1 leveling kit already installed.

 

spacers maybe ? 70 sidewall is tough to squeeze without lift I think.

 

With 3/1, go with 18x9 (not 10) and go with no lower than 18 mm offset. You may have to do some wheel liner mod but you won't have to do any serious cutting (assuming that you are going with 295/70/18). Between 18 and 35, higher the offset, less rubbing you will end up (but less offset will give you a more stuck out look). Mine is 18 mm and my tires are roughly even with bushwhacker fender flares.

 

you guys think a cab mount chop alone may solve the issue? I think it also rubs the back rear fender (toward the door)

 

Are you sure it's not hitting the cab mount? Maybe both?

 

it's got a -12 offset and it looks like only the pinch weld. if it does require the cab mount to be cut and welded, I might consider it.. not sure yet exactly.. what's your guys opinion about doing those 2 cuts?

 

I have 37x12.50's on my truck and I'm pretty positive your rear fenderwells are larger. I have absolutely zero rubbing in the rear, full droop and fully tucked. I'm thinking your offset is the issue, as everyone else has mentioned already.

edit: the rear of my tundra is bone stock.

I have zero rubbing in the rear also. the fronts are the issue.

I don't think theres enough material to safely cut away to make them work. Maybe someone else can chime in but your solution currently is probably going to be wheel spacers and a cab mount chop. Or get the correct wheels.

 

maybe I need to stick with 18x9 +18 and my Cooper sst 295 70 18 and that should fit perfectly with no trim? but I loved the -12 offset
