This might be a silly question but seeing as I have only had my 2018 Tundra a couple days I am finding it difficult to know how close I am to something at the front while parking. Back is no problem with the camera.
That high curved hood that I can't see the front of the vehicle is something I am not used to . I have got out a few times thinking I am there only to find I am 6 or 8 feet away.
Is this something that I am just going to have to get used to ? I hate guessing how far away I am from something.
Loving the truck otherwise though .

Just gotta feel it out if you don’t have sensors. I bought a rubber parking curb for my garage, as the Tundra fits with about 8” to spare front and back combined. You’ll get more comfortable with time out in the wild.

    Welcome!

Sounds like you need the FRAC harness to have a camera use anytime you want up front (like a Raptor).

    Yeah, I can relate.
When I first got mine, I was stopping short in parking spaces, still do at times but getting a better feel how far forward to go.
The Tundras front end is shorter compared to my Silverado’s and I keep forgetting that when I pull into a parking slot.
This leaves me with the ass end usually sticking out!

Can you send me info on purchasing the FRAC harness.. I looked through the thread and was a bit confused.. although it was probably just me. LOL. Also, is there a camera you recommend? I have a 2018 SR5 DC.. so it has the sensor in the emblem. thanks in advance!

I am wondering if this sort of switch could be used in this. They also have a rear camera switch.. but thinking your harness is not made for this exactly... just a thought. It would be awesome to have this sort of switch I think. But thinking it might require a relay or two to work right with your harness

    I bought this59AA940F-C7B7-489F-8556-1CD64323D73E.jpg

    And mounted it here:

(Look close just above license plate)

The double stick tape wasn’t stout enough so I used a couple of small screws. They’re invisible unless you’re on your back looking for them

Yes , I would be interested in this as well mostly because of the price factor. How easy or difficult is it to hook up ?

Plugs right into FRAC harness. Getting RCA jack through the grommet in the firewall can be a bear but that was only the difficult part.

I completely agree. Very easy install. The hardest part was getting the RCA cable through the firewall. There is a great install video on YouTube by a member of our forum @nk1794 .

The FRAC is your best friend. Took couple of hours for everything, camera and harness, to get the complete system installed. Just watch the YouTube videos. Its much easier then you would thinks. I love being able to pull 4 or 5 inches form stuff when you can only do pull in parking.
