Front end level

So I just spoke to a guy at Toyota and asked him about the level kit for the front end. He said they don't do that but could do a 3 in the front and 1 in the back. Is that right? Do they not do the level? Doesn't sound right to me. His lift would cost about $1500 he said.

 

A 3 and 1 will level the truck out. Did they say what type of lift it was?

 

No, he was just a sales person and didn't mention the type. Does that price sound about right? Will that 3/1 level look good on the TSS AT wheels ( I think 285/55R20 )? I worry about it making the tires look wimpy, ha.

So they don't have a 2" front level like what I did on my Chevy? Humm..

 

plenty of leveling kits available at 4wheelparts. I think your sales guy is trying to make a buck

 

It just depends on what he was pricing out. You can get 3/1 spacers for a few hundred bucks, or a $5k+ suspension lift. The lift that Toyota offers is the TRD Pro lift, which is a suspension lift. It gives you 2.5" in the front and leaves the rear at the same height. It's an awesome lift, though it is quite a bit more than $1500. He was probably selling you an aftermarket lift. Maybe ToyTec?

 

There are 2.5 levels and 3/1 levels. You can go the spacer route (not recommended above 2-2.5) or bilsteins 5100. Bilsteins are adjustable shocks, a little pricier but from many on this forum, worth it.
I personally have a DC with a 3/1 and the rear sits 1.25 inches higher than the back. Specs and height are probably different with CM's and TRD/TSS models. Not sure how much different the 14-present models are from 07-13.

I'm going the Toytec BOSS route (shocks with coil overs) within the year in place of my spacers.

 

Sounds like your guys trying to charge out the ass for labor when you can do it yourself with the help of a buddy and at the price of a sixer and lunch!!

 

I would inquire as to what name brand they're thinking of doing. Some brand names just aren't good news.

He just came back and said the price is $1,200. Still waiting on the brand or style. Keep in mind, this is from Toyota. Think 4wheelparts would be cheaper?

 

That's how we all learned. Asking questions brother! I researched forums, official documents and everything in between for a few months when getting my lift. I still don't know everything. That's why I joined this one, plenty of people more knowledgeable than me with a dash of smart assery and bullshitting. One of, if not THE best forums around IMO

 

Also, this is just for a 4x2, so I dont need anything too crazy. Just something to make it look better and a little more muscle.

 

Yeah, when I started kicking around this Tundra idea, I found this forum to start getting information and ideas. It's been awesome so far.

 

Do you have a link to what you'd recommend looking at? I've never done a lift or anything else myself, but my father in law works for a big collision center and access to all the needed equipment.

Think the OME lift is only for 4x4 vehicles. I was gonna go with that as well but mines a 2WD like the OP's.

Bilstein 5100's are the cheapest / safest way to level your truck for under $600 IMO. You can choose the highest setting which is about 2.2" of lift or the middle setting which is about 1.8" of lift (in the front only, rear stays the same). Both of them make your truck look pretty dang close to level. I wen't with middle setting since I didn't want the nose up look when towing my heavy trailer or boat.

 

I still dont know what the Toyota dealership uses when they do the lift. I'm trying to get someone to get me that information and a price under the employee discount.

 

Ok, so Toyota told me that the lift they would do is a 2" front and 1" back to level it. Made by ProComp and would cost me $943.

Then there is a 2" front that would cost me $695

 

37's look like 35's on our trucks

 

Honestly, if it were me, I would get the one you want and get your father in law to help you, for a fraction of the price or get a better one for the same price + a sixer and free lunch for your father in law.
No it wouldn't void your warranty.
