In April of 13' I said this truck would remain stock....well at least I went three years...buhahhaaaa. The following is why I'm dumping some money into the truck:

-These trucks are pretty damn good, but not maintenance free for sure. So it is time.

    Plans:

-2.5" lift up front and get a better ride. Bilstein 6112 should do the trick.
-1.5" lift in the rear to keep the factory rake and new shocks. Shackle lift with Bilstein 5160's.
-New wheels and tires when time comes. Looks like for now, some +20 wheels will be what I am looking for.

-Lately I have been really not happy with my Tundra while towing. Traction control was going off, had more load distribution than needed and the front wheels would start braking in corners like I was sliding.

-Second issue is the truck has progressively went downhill in the ride comfort department. I never thought it was smooth anyway, but hey...it's a truck right?

I tried using Hellwig overload springs. That was a mistake. Unless you have the weight to actually need overload springs all the time, Do Not Buy them. I could have permanently destroyed my spine they way it drove down the highway.

Next I tried the airbags. I have the Airlift 5000 with the internal jousts. The jury is still out on them. They do what is asked of them and if my shocks are not up to par, the ride is going to be crap and will hit the bump stops more often.

I was still having the front wheel traction control going off. My truck was level, LDH set up right (camper is tongue heavy) and could not figure this out. Today I do believe the issue has been pointed out and am taking care of that right meow. I will cover this later..

The Bilstein 6112 shock kit was ordered along with the Bilstein 5160 series shocks. The fronts came in today and I was impressed. I have another thread going about shocks and one of the posters recommended shims, so instead of getting two alignments when I find out he is right (hell, the factory springs are sagging). I called up ol' Coachbuilder and we had a nice 45 min chat about what I wanted out of my truck. He liked the setup I purchased and would recommend that to anyone wanting a level or small lift.

The next thing we chatted about was my front traction control issue. He told me when I am towing, leveled out, the yah sensor in the center console doesn't know what end is which..and freaks out a little. He then recommended a +2 shackle to help with this issue, which will be worse with a leveled out truck when towing. We chatted about what his shackles do over the factory ones. That was a little shocking to hear to say the least. Ride should really be improved after these are installed. Cool thing is his kit comes with the center carrier drop as well.

Last thing that was discussed was getting a Daystar saddles for my airbags.

So this is the done deal:

    -Bilsteins all around
    -+2 Coachbuilder shackles
    -Daystar saddles for the airbags

Later on I can start working on the power. I can see some long tubes and a BAMuffler system coming.....

Yep, UT has some pretty good grades even for diesels. I-70/15 is a rough one

Truck is 4880 wet and winter loaded. Trailer is 2000. Add camp supplies and RTT and you are damn closer sir.

P.S. I dropped the coin for the 46 gallon transfer flow tank.

Yeah, I'm not going that fast. My trailer is 1000 lbs more and I hope and pray to God my jeep is 5000lbs and under.

I'm finding out that the transfer flow tank is about ones only legal option. carrying around these damn 5 gallon jerry cans sucks.

image.jpg Received my coachbuilder +2 shackles, shims, carrier bearing drop today. They have been at the post office for several days.

    These shackles are beefy.

    Thanks David @Coachbuilder1

So what exactly does a carrier bearing drop do? I assume it's for the rear axle.

The little 1" spacers drop the center drive shaft carrier bearing down to prevent vibrations.

Tonight the CB +2 shackles and carrier bearing drop were installed. I watched one of CB's original videos of how to install these shackles and it was helpful on the whole job. This video did not include removal of the rubber bushings and installing the Poly bushings. My airbags were disconnected from the bottom bracket, waiting for the Daystar cradle.

Issue that I had and my solution:

-Factory shackle was rusted in place (spring side). The top bushing was free and slid around nicely. For the past week the bushings, all bolts were getting a shot of Kroil. That was no help for this issue. I was using some pretty big pry bars and even bent the shackle. Out came the cut off wheel and I hacked it off, slid the old shackle out. Did the same on the other side. The rubber bushing was coming out anyway right?

-The rubber bushing was rusted in pretty good as well. Nothing that a little bigger air gun didn't take care of. I ended up needing a little bit longer pipe (3") due to the ball joint removal tools were only getting 2" and it was not enough. Something to think about when doing this job.

Anti-seize was used like no other. I can't imagine a vehicle that is in areas where salt is used for icy roads. With the shackle shaft being rusted in and would not let the shackle move freely, this should be an improvement over the factory shackles.

Once the decision to just cut the old shackles off, the job went pretty smooth. Took around 2 hours to complete.

The CB shackles are a quality built product that I would recommend to others. My Bilstein 5160 shocks are due to be in later today, so that should solve my rear suspension issues. On Monday, I plan on installing the Bilstein 6112 kit and get an alignment. The rear measurements were on spec with 1 1/8-1 1/4" lift on the +2 shackles.

I purchased the rear shocks at shockwarehouse.com I have had a a little issue getting them to my doorstep. I would give them a B on the overall experience.

The 6112 I purchased on EBay for 599.00. Now some of these companies that buy large lots of these shocks with springs. On other vendors you can choose between 600 or 700 lb springs. So if you plan on getting an aftermarket bumper and winch, might want to get the 700 lb springs. I give this eBay store an A+. I had the shocks in a few days.

    http://m.ebay.com/itm/BILSTEIN-46-2...ODY-FOR-07-15-TUNDRA-/172272987436?nav=SEARCH

    Hope that helps.

    LML 3500HD
Calibrated Power 5 Tune pack, Allison 1000 tune, PPE deep trans pan, Cold/Hot CAC pipes, Banks CAI, PCV reroute, resonator delete, S&B 62 gal fuel tank, B&W GN hitch
The issue was I received an email my payment was processed and shipped. I call back a week later and they were not even shipped yet.

They did come from different locations. Received one today and I guess one on Monday of next week. I only had one tracking number for both shocks. I would buy again from them, I would call and talk to someone instead of online purchasing.
