Gear position light is out

The little green light that indicates my Tundra is in Drive has gone out, does anyone have any experience with correcting the problem? All the other lights still work.

 

You'll have to pull the cluster and replace the bulb. I pulled the one low gear and swapped it with drive. LEDs are an NEO-4, not sure what the Toyota number is but I believe @Professional Hand Model just replaced his.

 

Check out youtube for instructional videos. Its pretty easy. 4 fasteners to loosen and pull the dash out. Be careful of that Phillipino guy video as he put up the wrong part number. The above part should be your fit.

 

Confirmed for the 02’. These are the bulbs I put in. One for the P. One for the D. Both were burned out.

I ordered and received the bulb online, bulb was $3.50, shipping was $6.50, lol. Anyway, I somewhat followed the you tube video, and had the job done in less than an hour.

I do have a couple of recommendations;

1. Remove all 4 screws on the lower dash fascia, it makes it so much easier to get the bezel out.
2 . When you get the cluster loose, go ahead and detach all 4 wire plugs and pull the cluster out, it makes it easier to change the bulb and you can do good cleaning of the cluster before it goes back in.

 

Great info. Exactly what I did...... in the dark last night.

Be careful and don't break the black shroud held by the 2 top screws. It kind of sticks in the lower right edge ( directly above the ignition switch. ) That area has a small bevel/lip, the rest of it doesn't..... just make sure to do what Lost said... remove all 4 bolts for to loosen the plastic fascia/lower part of dash. Then pull that lower part back a little and you can can get black shroud out.

 

Yep, ended up doing that too. Who uses L anyway, you know. Very seldom, if ever.

4lo is fun to use! The truck instantly becomes a tank. Complete different animal at that point.

 

Did the monthly engagement of 4x4 and 4lo the other week and I was amazed how well this truck crept up an incline in 4lo and drive without any accelerator. Could only imagine 1st gear would be easier.
