Has anyone used or had their Tundra painted with the DuPont Kevlar, or Line X paint systems. I’ve been researching these, but haven’t found any threads using the search function on this site. Just want to know if one is better than the other, or easier to maintain.

Check out Durabak spray or brush on liner. Toughest out there. Marine grade quality. You can pay someone to spray it on or DIY and save some scratch.

About 800 bucks. Had some chipping of the anti chip coating by the bottom of a door and recurring rust issues that a body shop that fixed it years ago just couldn't get right. So I gave up making them fix it for free with less effort every time I came back. The linex guys scuffed the whole truck all the way around about 10 inches up from the bottom. They completely ground the paint off the bottom of that door and primed it, and sprayed all around. I don't know anything about Dupont Kevlar but my bedliner still looks great 4 years later and I'm always happy with the quality of work at this linex place I use. Nearly a month later and no separation anywhere that I can find. I wash and wax the rest of the truck normally. I can just hose the linex off, wipe it with a wet rag, or wipe it down with detail spray along with the rest of the truck and it looks great.

I like doing the DIY things, especially if it saves me some money, but not if I can’t get professional results doing it myself. I just posted this wondering if anyone had done their vehicle completely. I have done truck beds in the past and they came out as good or better usually than having someone else doing it. I don’t really have a problem taking a sander to a $50k truck if I can achieve good results.

Guess the problem here is that you will only find out after you tried yourself. I personally would never try to do the whole truck DIY. That is just something different than "just" the bed, my 2 cents

It’s always good to find out what you are getting into from peoples experience, from what I’ve been seeing, the biggest part of the whole process is the prep. The only thing I wouldn’t be able to do myself is remove the windshield. I guess I’ll have to buy a spray gun that would shoot this, the ones I have are set up for automotive clear coat, other than that, should be a lot easier than spraying regular paint.

Thank you for pointing me in that direction, however my fiancé would probably cut off my nuts while I am sleeping if I thought about about buying one of their trucks...lol. They do have some extremely badass stuff though.1A37C68E-3A6B-445A-881E-E57DC037DE51.jpg4F4460CF-AF55-4D8B-B360-B59860BA1E96.jpg

You cant afford not to buy that bumper...Its on sale! 500 off! I remember reading a story somewhere about a guy that did his Ford Shitstang. He was showing his car when someone came up and was asking why the hell he would do that. So the owner took his keys out of his pocket and winged them into the drivers door. After he picked him up, he said now let me do that to your car. I WOULD LOVE TO LINEX MY TRUCK.

Lined would add a lot of weight if you did the whole vehicle.

I don’t think it would add that much weight, say 100 lbs max....Someone who wants to do this (like myself) isn’t racing the truck, so the weight gain is negligible, especially since most aftermarket bumpers weigh in excess of 150 lbs, and larger rims and tires weigh an additional 30+ lbs each. I am all for performance, I run 2 piece rotors, and forged wheels on my car, but that’s a different animal all together.

On a car like that mustang, it adds about 25 pds from what they said.

I live in Ohio, land of salty roads... My fear is that water can get trapped behind it and rot everything out. Don't get me wrong, if the rockers or fenders had rust later in life I would consider a 10" band on the bottom, but on my new truck? No way. The Durbak has me interested for the bed and other things. I was going to have the bed sprayed, but it needs sanded and scuffed for paint prep. I figured I can do that with tools and work and spray it in a few years... I guess if you are going for the Mad Max look then go for it.

I had my TRD PRO 4Runner done. It had 10 miles on it and I rolled the dice and sent it down the street to a place to get it done in Texas straight from the dealership. Best decision I’ve made and I get asked on the daily where did I get it done.

I had the rack and step bars coated as well. At least I never have to worry about waxing it or rusting since I did it when it was brand new.

$6500 for the whole truck at AWT IN Houston Texas. They did an awesome job and very detailed. About a 3 week turn around time once they start.
