Buy a accountant friend a bottle of whiskey and tell him to figure it out. Problem solved.

i'm all about keeping it simple and my back of the napkin math is very close to your example. my day rate, er, sorry, creative fee, is a bit higher. for commercial work, it's that plus licensing/usage fees but some of my packages do not go by that. there are also a few things i want to do that require some outside investment. for that, i need the math in the plan to be a bit more solid.

my undergrad is in computer science and biology. i've never used them either...

my depreciation schedule is straight line with a salvage cost (40% of the value of the long term assets) built in.

I'm impressed, not many people are familiar with the Mitch Rapp books. Looks like I need to read some Tom Clancy, John Clark sounds like one hell of an interesting character. Interesting combination too.

I’ll take a stab at this. I think what you are trying to find is Variable margin breakeven.

What i did for our products (we sell glass) is create a baseline. Our base line product was 0.7 sq ft of glass has a variable cost of $1 and a selling price of $3. So with this standard cost I change the input on pieces in the formula so, 0.8sq ft piece size would have more variable cost. I did this for each customer we sell to so I would know if I sold 100 pieces of 0.6sq ft my margin is X. Then after all of that I layered in my fixed cost and depreciation was included in fixed to find true break even. This was done by weighted average.

Idk your timing but if you give me a few hours I can send you my spreadsheet. I’m in a tree stand right now

    taking a tangent...

clark has bit appearances in a number of clancy novels. 'cardinal of the kremlin' is the first and willem dafoe played him in 'clear and present danger'. 'without remorse' is clark's origin story. after that, 'rainbow six' is another good read about him.

OK. Was just wondering if your company could have been of help as a supplier of glass bottles. Good deal.

Yes! That’s the struggle we are having. It doesn’t break when we need it to. And it’s half the weight of a typical windshield

So let's assume product a is x, and product b is theta, and product c is . . . ah screw it, @COMiamiFan already gave you the best answer. keep it simple, but make each product it's own equation before adding it all together to find the overall company break even.
