Bose VS definitive technology home speaker system

If I get 2 floorstanding speakers do I need book shelve speakers and center speaker as well or one or the other?

 

had the Def Techs 1000's in 5.1 setup at our last house. They were good but at the new house didn't want anything mounted to the walls. So I just went with the Sonos Soundbar, Sub and two Play 1's. Not bad and I love the fact you can control it with a phone app or by my laptop. I use Amazon music for my playlist. Thinking about moving the 1's to other rooms and replacing them with either the Play 3 or Play 5.

The one thing I don't like is on the Sonos app you don't have an equalizer. They give you bass and treble and that's it. If they gave the option of an equalizer in their app then it would be the cats meow.

 

I love the simplicity of the Sonos. I have the Playbar, two Play 1's and the Subwoofer. Their technical support is good also.
