I personally would be completely OK with that, matter of fact that would be my preference but its not my car or money.

:eek2: You sir SUCK ASS!!! lol Seriously that was a hell of a deal. That engine alone is probably worth more then that

Around here, people are asking $10k-15K+ for 64-68 fastbacks just like yours minus the paint, bodywork, floorpans, trunk pans or engine.

Never had a vehicle I was afraid of damaging. It's a material thing, it can be replaced.

I did have an old as hell Mercedes SLK as my first vehicle (hand-me-down from my sister) that terrified me. It would lose power steering and breaking at random while on the road. Not sure how many times I had to put all my weight on the breaks to stop. I remember the last time it happened, I pulled into my high school parking lot and almost couldn't stop. I called my dad crying, refusing to ever drive it again. He ended up selling it to a buddy, and I still see it every now and then. Brings back nightmares.

Didn't own it but had to drive it.

Ford F350 Diesel with a cooler box on it used to make deliveries to grocery stores. Drove it 3 days a week, swear I had to work on it every time to crank it up.

Even with block heater had to fill up the intake with ether to get it to fire up.

The cooler box wasn't secured very well and would roll the truck if I hit a corner too sharp, you could see the cooler tip over.

One time running late into the night had to turn on the headlights,,,,they didn't work. I had to hot wire headlights by stealing a wire off something else, never did figure out what it went to. Did that on the side of I85 in Charlotte.

    And what's worse, NO RADIO!

I quit that business, the owner drove the truck for a week and went out and bought a brand new cooler truck.

Lol... Thanks for the interest but this is not my thread so this is the last post about the Mustang. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to discuss more.

I wasn't looking for a project but, if I were a bit more ambitious, and more interested in the project as a whole, I would cut the towers and drop this '04 4.6 Terminator engine in it. A buddy in MO has it in his barn and told me I could have it for $3500. Just a lot of work involved compared to dropping the current motor in there.

    IMG_0798.jpg

As far as the "deal" on the car, just the right place at the right time. Like I said, I wasn't looking for, didn't really want, and not really interested, in a project car. Growing up I had 2 different '66 mustangs, so I've been down this road before. Realistically, it'll probably be a couple years before I do anything with this one.

If this thread was labeled “have you ever owned a vehicle that you’re afraid to let your WIFE drive” then yes.
I don’t mind when she drives the trucks (feel bad for everyone else on the road though).
But the cars - no. She’s not allowed to drive the cars. :D
I don’t drive the cars downtown - or any sketchy places where I know people don’t care about my shit. I take the Tundra and stick the hitch in the rear.

I’ve had two. One a BMW X1 and the other a Chevrolet SS.

The BMW wasn’t special, but it was a lease and I was paranoid about damage. Ironically, my son rubbed a wheel within the first month of owning and BMW did not charge me for that or anything else when I turned in the lease.

The SS was what I bought in 2017 instead of a TRD Pro Tundra. Part of the appeal to the SS was its limited availability (less than 12,000 in the USA, only ~300 as optioned) and potential for future collector status. We even flew to Dallas and took the road trip back to SC to get the color. The SS was the first car I modified and wet my appetite for spending way too much on my Tundra. Unfortunately it was also my daily and I couldn’t enjoy it while trying to preserve it. Sold the SS and bought my TRD Pro. I did love the unique color, LS3 V8, M6 transmission, and Holden rebadging (GM Australian brand that makes the SS/Commodore).

Love my Tundra, it’s a truck and meant to be used as such. I can already feel less stress to keep it pristine.

I loved my Discovery when it worked and thought I would have it forever. Eventually sold it for a Tacoma and a lot less problems.

My wife had an LR3. Awesome truck, spent way too much time in the shop, so we dumped it as soon as the extended warranty was up.

One of my partners has 2 Discoverys and an LR3 and loves them (no issues with any of them).

My wife bought an A4 and I got her Discovery. We kept it as long as we could out of warranty. You need money and an honest independent or the ability to fix it yourself. And you need to not be in the year and VIN range where the engine blows up.

The only car my father was afraid of me driving was part of the very first shipment of DMC cars in '81. The intent was to flip it... cool, but I didn't like driving it.

1999 Camaro Z28, automatic, LS1 V8, of course RWD and horrible in snow.

Lived in Nashville, any time the roads were bad going into work on 2nd shift, I called out. Car had summer tires, it was a total joke if it snowed, never even tried with that car. Same thing if it started to snow that evening, I kept an eye on it like a hawk, told them go ahead and fire me if I leave early to beat the snow. Only one time was I caught out in it, left my car on the side of the road and walked 5 fucking miles.

In high school, a girlfriend's mom had an early 80's Chevette. If it had 40 hp I would have been surprised. Pulling out into traffic was scary because it would barely move. 0-60 was like 7 minutes!

I have a very squirrely '70 beetle in storage that scares me. Runs a 2074cc motor, dual carbs, short 3rd and 4th gear, the works. Problem is it has stock drum brakes and picks up the front wheels in 1st and 2nd.

:). It was my very first car. I saved up for it and bought it on my own hard earned sweat and tears. Lol. It was a completely and utterly piece of junk. And even though I were still in high school at the time, I was married to that damn car. Everyday something on it broke. I was working to support that car. I finally had to get rid of it exactly one year after buying it. I have never looked at a VW ever again in my life!:rofl:

I know how that goes. My first was a '65 baja bug. It was 4 different colors but mostly red, had 3 different wheels, blue front seats, no working gauges, no belts, and a windshield that wasn't installed but sat in the back seat.

    Loved that one too.

Damn... Talk about some seriously badass rides many of y'all have had. Ill admit, quite a few got me a little jelly.

I havent ever had a vehical that fell into the catagory of "prestine badass i would kill myself if i wrecked it", but ive had a few that were "omg, this thing is gonna get me killed" catagory.

My first bike was just a simple 883 harley sportster. Was in perfect working order and looked great. But.... As i was letting some friends know what i had just got they preceded to make me aware of how proud they were of me and they couldnt wait for me to start riding with them.

"This weekend we're gonna get on our hawgs and take a ride. You should bring your cute little piglet"!..,

    "My what"?....

"Yeah man, we dont mind if you and the piglet tags along"!

"Oh... piglet... I see what you did thar". "Ass hats"....

Im not riding a damn piglet. And after all the laughter had cleared me and my brother,

decided to start choppin' and moddin'.

I had experience on dirt bikes and that was it. I was unaware that the bike i was gonna some-what make cooler was gonna come at the cost of "totaly not beginner rider friendly".

There really wasnt any available space in my head to think about it with the endless chanting of "piglet" reverberating around in there.

We chopped the the neck, raked out the forks, welded up custom ape hangers, springer front end, and bobbed the rear ect... Sadly, but probably for the best we never upgraded to the bule heads (that would have put me close a 1200. I believe.)

And in all its glory we had built me a death trap!

Come to find out you're actually supposed to use math like geometry and possibly even fractions and some times paper to write that shit on... Well atleast thats what i was told after we had done it. Sounds like a bunch of bs to me though.

That piglet was no more. We cut and welded and cursed that thing into a "rat". I can ride a rat bike! IMG_20130427_151403_889.jpg

And man oh man... I actually believed that right up until i pulled out the drive way and made a u turn at the first stop sign.

Thank god i looked good on that bike!

Still to this day i am amazed that i rode that bike all that time without ever really asking myself "how do you know if your welds will hold"? And "when did my brother learn to weld"?

That bike was fast from 0 to go!
But those damn hawgs always caught up and rolled on by me on the open roads and highways.

And just to make this post even longer.... A couple pics of the bikes that have come and gone.IMG_20130814_125047_638.jpg

Is that one that had "power" everything but most of it was vacuum operated?
