Thank you for the pics! I've noticed how low your look over obstacles aired down, watching that flexi-sag, but I know you work 'em and I haven't heard you complain of failures. I feel reassured to know you're happy with them. I think I've been warned they're a bit heavy-? But if that's because of extra material, seems like a good thing to me. I'd guess I'm years away from worrying about weight  of truck tires.

The truck has 285 75 R16 on now but they're so cheap-ass and chunky and wearing the suspension. It's hard to get a feel for what could be. I'd probably be pleased with this tire size but wonder if I should try bigger (taller side-wall) since I don't mind cutting the truck.

The reason for going bigger would be for more ground clearance (aired down). When I met up with @papasmurf he used his truck's front suspension to talk me through how the components work together. I now better understand how long travel creates more droop, also moves the tires out a bit farther (longer control arms) and actually can lower clearance above ground. It was pretty ah-ha! when he pointed out that my gen 1 already sits a fair bit higher than his Built gen 3 on 37's. So... since I want to go as good as I can barely afford on suspension, I'm now one of thousands on here, trying to figure out what's the largest size tire I can run.... :D

285/75/17. Since no RT in that size, im pretty set on ST Maxx’s. They’re a true 34 and I have heard great things. We shall see how tough the sidewalls are.

285/75R16 is the same size I'm running.

Oh yeah, there's a lot to learn there!

More ground clearance is a huge plus, but also the larger tire rolls over obstacles more easily and that's a big benefit when you try to go over more abrupt edges (well really a benefit over all obstacles haha).

I'd nede to do more homework on the topic, but if you wanted to go bigger the next step up is 35". You'll need to look into what's required to cut, what needs to be reinforced (if any), if your wheels have the proper backspacing for the added width, and if your current gear ratio is ok or if it'll need to be re-geared.

    Ahhhh gotcha.

    They do a 295, but it's only a little bigger than 33".

I was running the wildpeaks on my 4runner before this. Best tires I have ever owned.i never had an issue with them getting packed with snow or mud. I would 100% recommend them. I'll be adding those when its time for new tires.

Sure. If I could drive up, check it out in person, and it works to open/close easily, looks good for $1500. Was it sold before (used or never picked up)? Pretty narrow though, for 3 people.

Hahaha! My favourite Mexican restaurant (and tequila bar :drunk:) is in Corona:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=corona,+ca+luna&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari

So are Total Chaos and a bunch of other vendors with cool stuff for our trucks. :)

I vote we set up shop tours, all blow out of work on a Friday, caravan through vendors' shops so we all learn together (and you guys can help me buy upper and lower control arms for the new truck), then we can head over to Luna for great food, drink, and company. If we do it right, we'll have to stay overnight in one of the nearby hotels... in walking distance of the restaurant. o_O

Kinda :spending:, but it'd be fun!!
