My brother in law goes to Japan twice a year for work. Last Spring he went he brought me a bottle of Suntory, I didn't like it much. He went again last month and got me a bottle of Old Suntory, it was so much better. I'm not a whiskey guy but this was very drinkable. He told me he paid $18 for the bottle.

I liked it so much I looked to see if it is available in the States, and it is... at $180 per bottle. I showed him that and could see the regret on his face as I put the bottle into my cabinet.

Had some great local stuff Mobb Mountain in Ft. Collins. My normal night cap is Bulleit bourbon. Tried the rye for the first time this weekend Was also very good. I just got into the whiskey and bourbon game in May, so haven't explored much. I also enjoy some Lagavulin 8yr from time to time. Gotta enjoy what I can on a family budget.

All these post on Japanese whisky made me curious how they taste. :proposetoast: So I started to research the Hibiki brand and I came across this rare 35 year old whisky. Even if you can buy this outrageous whisky, what justifies the cost?!

My wife picked this Woodinville up for me and it’s pretty good (local).

The Finished Rye is the best in my cabinet (sad, I know).

Do you guys have Total Wines around your areas? If so, any recommendations for a good whisky (neat, $100 range)?

Hands down for me is Pappy Van Winkle 12 year Lot B (or the 15 and 23 year). I always indulge when i travel for work to Kentucky at local pubs that carry it, but can never find a bottle actually for sale to buy for myself.

I'll throw in a vote for Breckenridge Bourbon. Taste great, relatively inexpensive for its quality, and is just about the only alcohol left that doesn't give me a hangover. The older I get, the less vices my body allows me to have. I can barely finish two beers before I get a headache, wine gives me serious heartburn, and almost all the other liquors make it so rough the next day that it's not worth it. But thank Baby Jesus, I still have Breckenridge, and oddly, tequila. For some reason decent Tequila doesn't kill me either.

Nice, I’ve been intrigued by the Irish whiskeys lately. I really like Connemara for around St. Paddy’s.

Drank a lot of this in Nashville, and now found it locally. Sweet and spicy - if you like Maker’s 47, you should consider trying it.

Blantons for sure is my top favorite. Bulliet bourbon is the bourbon that got me into drinking bourbon. Bookers is really tasteful, I bought a bottle of that for my wedding night/honeymoon. Cant go wrong with maker mark. Been drinking a lot of White Label Jim Beam lately because the naval base in my area had them marked down for Liquor of the Month for 19.95 for a 1.75L, with a 3 dollar instant rebate. Making them 16.95 (No tax, yay government stores) so naturally I bought 10 of them

Been drinking Segrams 7 lately. Mixes good, people at parties seem to like it, its just a good budget whiskey if you want to do a shot or mix it up.

That's another good budget whiskey. I like it on the rocks, sip that stuff. As far as shots, not so much, Segrams 7 or Crown is my go to if people are feeling stupid.
