Hey guys, thanks for checking out my build thread. I've always owned 4runners and Tacomas and decided I needed the v8 and something bigger for my dogs. Searched for a couple months and found the perfect truck. 2004 blue marlin pearl 4x4 with a Brute Force Fab bumper, some decent wheels and tires and a sunroof (my must have in any vehicle). We have big plans to make this our main overland and camping truck. We have a transformers theme with names so the truck is Drift, the black and blue samurai.

    Suspension:
    Front: Kings with 650# springs
Rear: stock leaf pack with overloads and Deaver AAL (1.5" of lift) with Bilstein b110 shocks
    Total Chaos uppers

    Wheels & Tires:
    SCS F5s in 17x8.5, -10mm offset
    Toyo RTs 35x12.5x17
    BMC and hammered pinch weld

    Armor:
    Skid Row front plate
    Custom weld on sliders

    Miscellaneous:
    Fiberwerx front and rear glass
    EBC rotors and green pads
Limo tint with 40% on windshield
    Full led interior
Cover King front and rear seat covers

    As it sits now:
    DSC05248-Enhanced-NR-watermark.jpg
    [IMG]

    What is planned:
    Solo Motorsports LT kit
    Custom front and rear bumpers
    Paint the fiberglass
    All the Baja Designs lights

How it looked when I bought it. Looked great, but I needed to put on my Toyos and bronze Icons asap!

Little things here and there like led bulbs, cover king seat covers, a Kenwood deck and an led 3rd brake light were added. Then the bed rack build started. We used unistrut to create a modular system in the bed. We have so much planned to mount to it!

Thanks! I love bronze. I had these on my tan 4runner but they suite the blue so much better.

I'll never get tired of bronze wheels.
There's a special place in my heart (and on my truck) for bronze Method Roosts.

Heck yeah! I saw these wheels in black on a friend's Tacoma and I needed them. The roosts are nice as well!

Thanks everyone! We have ADS front and rear suspension planned, a brute force rear swing out, 35s, retrofit headlights and some audio planned.

Yeah my man designed it and unfortunately we haven't bought a welder yet so a coworker of his welded it for us in a day. He does nice work!

Hi, Sam @Swalters; welcome, new gal!!!

You came in just as we've been experiencing a resurgence of interest and activity on the 1st gens. Your truck already looks good; I'm excited to see what comes next.

I've already got questions: what did you do with the wheels you took off? Have you decided what 35 tires you'll get? (And will you wait for these to wear, or are you going fast to swap?)

I'm leaning toward ADS suspension as well, so please share every detail (help me learn). And I can't wait to see the swing out when you get it mounted. I'm so pleased you joined up here!

Nice start to your build. Like the bed rack and unistrut method. Good choice on the DC.

Looks like @Sunnier has a new bestie.

It is factory, blue marlin pearl only offered in 2004!

The wheels are on my 4runner right now. I already have some Toyo MTs sitting in the garage waiting to get swapped Saturday. We are Toyo fan bois
    IMG_20180929_114620.jpg

ADS is local to me so that's a plus. Some of our good friends run ADS and swear by it. I like Fox and King and they have all used both before the ADS so that's enough for me to try them out. I'm thinking either Atlas for the leaf pack or check out a local spring company and see what they quote me. I will absolutely update when I have it all installed.

I thought I loved this truck until I got the Tundra. I drove the 4runner the other day for the first time in weeks after buying the Tundra and hated it! It doesn't drive as nice, it's too cramped and I honestly grabbed the steering wheel trying to change the radio volume

Very true. The space and power of the v8 spoil you and driving anything else just isn’t right. My 5th gen 4runner is cramped and sluggish but would rather rack up miles on that than the tundra.
