‘18 CM SR5 TRD 4x4 towing question

hey y’all just debating on whether to level my ‘18 SR5 4x4..... I tow a camper trailer through out the year it is a 32’ that is about 8k fully loaded down. It does have an equalizer hitch. But I was wondering if I level it is it going to make the rear end sag and look like the nose is sticking into the air...... any thoughts or have any of y’all done this with no problems??? Let me know!

 

Yeah it is likely going to sit nose high. You'll probably need air bags or sumo springs...something to help keep the rear end from squatting.

CrewMax payload is really low. With that much trailer, and a tongue weight of probably 800+ lbs, you will only be left with around 500 lbs or so of payload. Any other gear, truck addons, family members is going to eat that 500+ lbs up in a hurry. You will most likely be overweight.

 

Thanks! That’s what I figured. It does have the bilstein shocks on the front and rear. I think I’m just going to leave it for now until I’m ready for new tires and upgrade it all..... thank you!

It does have the max payload option and I think the hitch weight is 650-700 on my Cherokee..... but I see where you are coming from! This was definitely an upgrade from my ‘13 f150 ecoboost! Seeing that the tundra has a 200lb more towing capacity than the ford!

 

never heard of sumo springs. just looked them up. do you have any experience with them?

They seem decent enough with out having to mod my suspension and not very expensive! I will have to look into them and might try them out!!! Thank you TacoWazzaTurd!!

 

I think they will make the rear end stiffen up a bit if you are hauling without a load. Probably wont matter much if you're not off roading or driving a lot of rough roads unloaded.
