Sold My 2018 Raptor for the 2019 Pro

I can quite easily afford a Raptor but I chose a Tundra. Money had nothing to do with it for me. The FORD stamp on the Raptor is what killed it for me.

 

So much hate, not for the truck, for the arrogant people (from my experience) that tend to own them. I have no issues with the truck. NONE.

I have an opinion on the truck, I wouldn’t buy one, I don’t think they are worth it.

 

Now go back to your raptor forum and tell your buddies how much hate and jealousy us Tundra owners have for you’re pavement princesses.

Guess what. It’s not overpriced. Maybe for you and the other haters it is. But like I said, add everything the Raptor has to a Tundra from the factory and that IS what it costs. Clearly people have spoken and Ford has built a truck that is in high demand selling far above MSRP. And if you can’t afford to pay for all those features, then hey just buy an 08’

I work with a guy who bought a sweet looking Raptor. I know what this guy makes. Dude owns no property, constantly bitches that he is broke and in serious debt and just told me the other day he doesn’t even put money in his 401k (company has a great match).

My point being is this guy “can afford it” but it most definitely doesn’t make him wise financially. Some of the most wealthy people I know drive modest or older model vehicles.
If you believe an expensive truck shows your financial status you are seriously kidding yourself.

Now to think that anyone that doesn’t like your gadget packed ford, just can’t afford one? That is arrogant and ignorant. Could I personally go drop 80k on a vehicle. Maybe not. The insurance on that for a 22 yo is what would kill me. Between that and likeing my other 5.5 vehicles more and I get more use out of them.

A) Talking shit. Because any other truck with the same features would cost the same. Whether it be a Tundra or a Ram, etc etc

B) Can’t afford it

I don’t. You guys keep claiming that Raptors are never taken off road. Who cares. Are the Pros? With their “off road” shocks? I mean I love the Pros and I give no fucks if people are or aren’t taking them Offroad. Same with the Raptor. Same with not tracking your 911 or your Z06. Like talking ish about people who own certain vehicles because they don’t do what you think they should do with them?

 

Anything "equal" from the factory would be a similar price point. That is why they are over-priced! I have said it before - sure, you can go buy a $60,000 truck and have yourself a capable off-roader. Or, go buy a 5,000-10,000 beater and dump 25,000-35,000 into it and have a $30,000-40,000 truck that will run with a Raptor. Then take the 20-30K you just saved and go on some really nice effing vacations.

But, most people want stuff out of the box that they don't have to think about. Then they call AAA when they break down and have the local mechanic fix it for them, do the oil changes, clean it, whatever. Doesn't make it "worth it". Even if the "masses" buy it - that doesn't make it smart. I have seen people in general do some incredibly stupid shit just because other people were doing it.

I can afford a Raptor - but will never buy one. Because:

1. I don't like them.
2. They are over-priced for what you get.

Half of the gizmos you listed on your "if my Pro had this it would cost as much as a Raptor" don't do squat for improving off-road capability. Heated/cooled seats, keyless entry, blah, blah blah.

 

The Raptor is no doubt a bad ass truck. Definitely the most capable off the showroom floor. I would love to rent one for a week and romp through the desert. But I would never buy one. Because it’s still a piece of shit Ford that will be lucky to reach 100k. 40k if I wheeled it like my Tundra. That’s why it’s overpriced. Doesn’t matter what gizmos it has, if it won’t last 5 years before the thing falls apart. And don’t say I can’t afford one. My other car costs more than a Raptor and I’ve got more into my Tundra than a new Raptor. And the last thing I’ll do is go to the Ford Forum and argue with Raptor owners that my Tundra is better than their trucks. That’s just being a douchebag.

Saying it’s and xyz then not using it as an xyz. My 08 is a truck and gets used as a truck, my matrix is a daily, it gets used as a daily, my Mr2 is a fun weekend car, and it gets used as that, the 4runner is an off-road only trailer queen (guess what gets used as a truck to pull it?), my other Mr2 is broke so I don’t know where that fits in, and the 16 srt charger? Well that’s just a fun car that I don’t have to pay for but have financial responsibility for. It’s a fun street car and gets used as such

I will tell anyone here that has a pro that claims it’s built to go off road but doesn’t go the same thing. Use it how it’s intended to be used. If you want to call your raptor a fun weekend truck, by all means use it for that. But don’t then tell me that it’s purpose built for off-road and not use it.

It’s the same for jeeps, acrs, demons, and what not. Don’t call it something that you don’t use it for.

Go daily a demon, but don’t tell me it’s a purpose built track car if that’s not what it’s used for.

You make a great point regarding the Fords reliability and longevity. The 3.5EB and Fords reliability are clearly the biggest cons with the Raptor. Oh and I didn’t come here to argue. I have a Tundra and am voicing my experiences and opinion on both. Being that I have both I have actual experience with both. Unlike many here commenting

 

With the other things I own/owe currently, it’s not a smart financial decision thus I can’t afford it. Quit with what people can afford

 

I can afford 3 raptors but paying that much for a Ford is a joke. If your a real man get or build a trophy truck.
