We were looking at getting this new Jayco TT but I wasn't sure if a hitch weight of 721lbs would max me out. I own a 2018 Crewmax and here are the TT specs.......

2019 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 284BHS
    Hitch Weight 721 lbs
    Gross Weight 7500 lbs
    Dry Weight 6160 lbs
    Cargo Weight 1340 lbs

If that's to heavy we were also considering the 2019 Jayco Jay Flight 267BHS which has a hitch weight of 670lbs.

2019 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 267BHS
    Unloaded Vehicle Weight (lbs) 5690
    Dry Hitch Weight (lbs) 670
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (lbs) 7000
    Cargo Carrying Capacity (lbs) 1310

Check your payload rating on drivers side door jam (B pillar). Take that number and subtract the tongue weight; the difference is what you having remaining for passengers and cargo. A weight distribution hitch will change the tongue weight just slightly.

You should be good. After people and gear inside the truck you will be close to max. I would make sure I had a good weight distribution hitch and take the time to make sure everything looks level.

Personally, I would go with the 2nd option. Just for piece of mind.

1265-750 or more(after camper loaded)=515 lbs left on capacity.

Subtract your family weight, 75 lbs for LDH, and anything in the bed of truck.

I dont recommend this but if the wife is set on the 28' you could get a heavy duty leaf pack. Obviously this doesnt increase your legal towing capacity but it will help the truck handle the extra weight

In addition to everything already mentioned I'd upgrade your tire package to something E Rated. Be sure when you're hauling either of these suckers that you're inflated to near max. 10ply tires with a stiffer sidewall and higher psi will help that truck not only handle the weight but keep your heat down. Much safer.
