So as you all know I'm moving cross country towing a possibly overloaded trailer. Everything was fine for the first few miles, then surprise the brake controller took a dump. To make a long story short I bought a prodigy p2 but have no idea how to install it! Aparently, there is no plug and play adapter for the 2018, the conecter is different. According to etrailer I need to splice it in. I have the tools but no clue what wires to splice. Someone please help. I've pushed my luck from CO to MO, but don't want to push to FL before fixing this issue.

    Found this on etrailer.com: https://www.etrailer.com/question-296047.html

"Currently, the only way to install a brake controller on a 2018 Toyota Tundra would be to hardware one into the vehicle's wiring harness. This is actually not as daunting of a task as it may seem. All you will need to do is cut off the plug on the vehicle's wiring harness and hardwire the one for you brake controller into this which is only four wires. You will however need a circuit tester like part # ALL640595 to make sure you are making the correct connections."

I have a 14' with no brake controller so sorry I can't help much.

Usually eTrailer is great with install videos and help.

Nothing you can do to correct the factory brake controller? Did you follow all the setup steps in the manual?

I tried, it connects and disconnects whenever it wants. Mostly stays disconnected, but at slow speeds it reconnects. Very strange. With everyone else having issues and installing aftermarket controllers I think this will be the best option. I just really need to know which wires to splice.

    Btw, stopped for the night

Sorry I am not of help.

Looks like a new wiring harness helped this guy with the same issue.

Unfortunately that isn't the fix you can do right now while driving cross country.

I did a lot of searching but haven't found any solid info.

    Good luck.

I do but don't know where the harness goes. The 10 wires in the conector make no sense. I think I found the ground and hot line in the kick panel. I need to figure out where the trailer like and break line are

I bought the tekonsha 3017 brake controller harness for my 17 tundra to connect my brake controller. Easy plug and play.

Should be able to do a simple test light to ground on the harness while pushing the brake pedal to find out which wire is controlled by brakes.

Might need two people to do a continuity check for the trailer connection.
