Cargo containment...??

Forgive me in advance folks if this has been discussed. I have been unable to locate it.

I want to purchase some type of "containment system" that hooks on the OEM rail system. I don't know the key words to use so I will try to explain what I'm looking for as best as I can.

My truck is more of a family truck than anything. It routinely has two car seats in the back seat. I am looking for something like a bed extender when it is folded into the bed. I am hoping that there is something produced that is made to hook on the adjustable rail cleats that would create a shallow/shorter bed from the tailgate area. Creating enough space and containment that would prevent groceries and small items from sliding around.

Does your ideal system need to be waterproof or is it open to the elements?

 

Yes.... That would work but I am looking for something that is a little more adjustable. Was hoping to mount to the cleats and move the cleats in the bed where i needed the divide to be.

 

I plan to put a bed cover on. In a perfect world, what I'm looking for would attach to the cleats below the cover.

 

I'd like to find the same thing. My previous truck (05 Nissan Frontier) the bed extender attached to the rail system so you could slide it around and could create a small space in the bed near the back of the cab. I used it for that far more than I did extending the bed. I've looked all over and haven't been able to find anything similar for Tundra.

Frankly losing this and the crappy jbl sound system are the only regrets I've encountered since upgrading to the tundra 6 months ago.

They used to make this exact divider OEM. I am linking to Toyota of Cool Springs (discontinued), but it appears Amazon may still carry it. One of the Amazon Q/A states it may not work with a tonneau. I personally have an AMP research bed xtender that I use to provide the contained space back near the tailgate to keep stuff from sliding around under my tonneau.

I've thought about these but guess I was holding out until I could find the dual purpose extender I had before. But I'll probably give up and pick one up eventually.

I have noticed that things don't slide around nearly as much on the toyota plastic bed liner my tundra came with. I think it said something about being non-slip?

Also I do wonder though if it would be possible to still use the extender if I had some custom hardware made. Would it even fit around the wheel well? I have a buddy that could make these for me.

 

I don't think the extender will fit between wheelwells, I like the idea I'd custom brackets though. The divider is made to fit between the wheelwells but to me it's a tradeoff because it leaves gaps in the sides if you choose to slide it back toward the tailgate

 

I’ve read the divider works with the tonneau cover but you need to flip the rail bracket upside down so the tightening knob is underneath.

Very easy, Aluminum very light.

 

We show them unavailable because of the shipping issues we have had with these. We have shipped out many that have become damaged during the shipping process, and UPS wouldn't pony up for the damages.

 

You could also use a 2 x 6 or 2 x 10. The bed has little notches made just for this. Downside is there is only two locations they can be used. In front of the wheel wells or behind. Right now I use one of those ratcheting extension poles so I can set stuff just inside the tailgate without it flying forward.

This is what I use now, and picked mi e up at Harbor Freight. Sam's provided the collapsible crates.

 

The collapsible crates are a good idea. I’m gonna keep my eye out.

Sounds like a great idea! Can someone confirm this really works? I have a tonneau cover and would like to know if this idea will work before buying that divider. For that matter, is that tightening knob really needed? The divider can't slide out of the bracket, so why that knob?

I searched high and low for containment and finally went simple. I’ve got a bed cover and wanted a way to haul groceries, etc. and to really just have stuff that was not in plain view in the cab. I got a couple of heavy plastic storage bins from Home Depot and use bungee cords to hook them to bed rails or the bed tie downs. the bungees just keep the containers from sliding around too much and I can just pull on the cord to pull them out. Simple and easy. When I need the whole bed I just pull them out and put them in the backseat or leave them at home.
