    Hey everyone,

First post here, looking for some advice on a truck.
My '92 Chevy K2500 needs a new motor, so I decided to go look for something else, need something dependable for work (I drive 60+ highway miles a day)
I made the choice of looking exclusively at Toyota, just for the fact of reading about their dependability if properly maintained.

Anyways, I'm going to meet this guy on Thursday to check out his truck:

    https://tampa.craigslist.org/hdo/cto/d/2000-toyota-thundra/6720303346.html

Anything specific I should be looking for? I'm going to ask if the timing belt has been changed (as that seems to be the common thing with the 3.4 at this mileage)
How about the price? I'm thinking of getting him to an even $4000. Should I be looking for less?

Any tips, or info is much appreciated!

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Look at the chassis / frame. There is a recall on 1st generation Tundra chassis.

Ask for records of oil changes if available. Gotta make sure the engine was taken care of.

    Good luck

Good looking out on the chassis info, I wasn't aware about the recall. Will definitely be checking that out thoroughly.

    Thank you!

The price seems very fair. Feel out the seller for how well he maintained it. Good Luck.

looks good. it's a V6 so keep in mind it won't have much power for towing, but it looks to be taken care of fairly well.

As with all used cars, be prepared to walk away if it's not what you want, or what you're willing to pay. getting a good deal is ALL in the buy. buy great, sell good is my motto. ;)

also, it looks like the Frame recall has NOT been done on this truck so look for that. if the frame isn't immaculate, I'd be wary.

Autocheck says the recall was done.

interesting. are you sure that's saying it was done, or is that saying the recall exists? because according to the Toyota website, it was not done.

Now that I look at it, I think it may just be saying it exists.

I’m definitely going to look over the frame thoroughly when I look at it tomorrow.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the Frame recall process, but essentially Toyota inspects the frame, and if there are no rust HOLES in a few key areas, then they slap some undercoating on it and called it good. if there are holes, they'll replace the entire frame for no cost.

I hate to beg, but if it's no hassle or cost to you, would you mind doing one on my truck? It's got a very sorted past since I bought it from a street corner dealer who claimed it was his uncles truck, but yet he was a black guy and the name on the title was someone of East Asian origins.
