Toyota approved my frame as part of recall to be sprayed. Dealer called and said they would need truck for 2 weeks, and they will sandblast frame inside and out and put the coating on.
Has anyone had this done? 2 weeks seems like long time. Are they taking everything off frame to do this? I asked person who set up appointment and they did not know.
    Thank you

My truck is from Nashville so it was not listed in recall. I saw the underside of one Tundra that it was done to and it looked like a big fn gookie black mess. I do not know if it was sandblasted or not first. Looked like sheeeeeeet underneath in MHO. Good luck. D

If you are getting a new frame - no its not a long time, if they are just spraying - seems like a long time.

My wife got a new frame for her Sequoia under recall and they had it for just over a week, and yes they took everything off.

I had a Tacoma (recall) that did not need a new frame but they sprayed it with the black goo you refer to, more like tar that never seemed to dry. Anyway, that was just one day to get sprayed, they did not take everything off.

If they are sandblasting it, it would be pulled apart just like a replacement frame. The sandblasting itself would be outsourced likely, so I do not doubt the timeline. Definitely longer than a frame replacement.

That's what I was thinking. Hopefully I can talk to someone at dealership who knows process. If they are taking everything off, it may be good time to replace some parts. Got 185,000 miles on her with no major issues.

Toyota replaced the frame on my 1st gen Tundra and it was over a week. When the cab rusted out and I was looking for a replacement all of the older 2nd gen Tundras around here had their frame covered in undercoating. Even then I could still see scale that didn't look like it was attached very well. I gave up and just bought a truck from down south that has a frame that looks like new. I doubt they are going to pull the cab and bed but maybe. Seams like at that point in time they might as well replace the frame. Either way hopefully they do sandblast it as just covering rust isn't a great solution.

Dealer just told me there going to be doing a sandblast on my 2007. said -2- weeks with a loner.
How did yours turn out? i was impressed the way my truck frame was holding up, till the last year or 2.
Just wondering how it turned out.
    Thanks

I had the frame sprayed on my 2005 Tundra and they just sprayed over everything. A big mess and rust was back shortly. It's a joke. If they are going to sandblast why not just replace frame or better yet give you a great value towards a different truck.
