I have decided to get a clear bra but due to such a short schedule I could not do one right away. I am picking my truck up in Ohio and driving it back to TX so that's a little over 1200 miles. The OEM offered by Toyota was not enough to make me feel at ease so I am getting it after market. I was told that it takes about the entire day to have it applied so I dont have the option to leave it at the car shop. While looking on line I cam across this little item call Track Amour. It basically is a temporary clear bra for use on long road trips or at the race track. I purchased it ($50)and its going on the checked luggage with me to the dealership. Checked on Youtube and it looks like about an hours worth to apply. I dont need to be perfect like the installers but just good enough to cover vital areas from rock chips and bugs. Any one try this? I've read and watched some YouTubes and it seems it will do the job while bringing my truck back to TX.

Was going to make a joke about clear bra, but it wouldn't have been transparent.

Joking aside, even cheaper than that is blue painters tape. I know it sounds silly but I used to use that when I had a Ford Focus going back and forth between car meets and didn't want my paint messed up.

LOL. Yeah, I saw some pictures comparing the two. But I had to take in the factor of rain driving down so not sure how that would impact the adhesive. I'll write a report and see how it goes on my way home. I also saw a liquid version but it comes off easily in the rain so it would be pointless to try as the weather forecasts rain the days I will be driving back.

So here is my update if any one is interested. Yes, it does work BUT I do have some lessons learned. If you have the time to do it right then do it, you can see I did a rush job in about an hour and a half. I didn't have the luck of the weather with me, so little creases and air pockets let some of the rain get in and loosen some areas of adhesive. This will cause it to come loose during your drive. When covering an area, use a large layer as I noticed that these tend to stick better and does not come loose and flap around. Using little snip its will almost always come loose and just causes a flapping in the wind. Keep it one large piece as much as possible. I tried to cut into the gaps of the hood and fendors to make it look pretty but all it does is make it easy for the rain and air to get in and lift these pieces off the truck. Here is what it looks like from a 1200 mile trip. It did its job and over all, I'm glad I did.IMG_20181028_100624.jpg IMG_20181028_100628.jpg IMG_20181028_214755.jpg IMG_20181028_214805.jpg IMG_20181028_214808.jpg

Thanks. Yeah, now comes the detailing part and a real clear bra. Hole in the pocket is getting bigger. Soon, i will have to give up eating good food and just eating Ramen noodles just like college days. LOL.
