I thought the whole idea of a "Private School" was to get a product that you approve of more than you would have expected from the Public Schools..........

as confusing as it may be to watch all that monkey motion go down, it actually made sense to me... i may have been able to do better in high school 20 something years ago if there would have been an alternate way of explaining this. change is tough to embrace but as adaptable humans we should approach this with an open mind and if we still dont get it then there is always the tried and true old way and when that one fails you can always use good ole www.google.com

The only math I need to know is that my 60mm rear shocks need to be replaced with 2.5" ones.

Actually, and I’m not 100%, but I believe a great deal of mathematics were developed in Arabic countries.

I’m going to open this thread back up, please keep religion or political banter out. This is what group PM discussions are great for. Good stuff in this thread.

I'm actually fine with teaching multiple methods in the classroom fully aware that individuals learn in various ways. BUT at the end of the day the pupil should decide which of these method they ultimately use to solve the problem in front of them.

What I'm not okay with, and the primary reason for my frustration, is the sense that much of academia seems to have become quite dismissive of the learning methods that served generations of people before the advent of Common Core.

Nite before school started for my grandson 3 years ago there was a meeting with the math teachers and parents/grandparents. To teach US how to do common core math, so we could help the kids at home.

I just learned the knuckle trick to know what months have 30 days. I thought it was a new thing but everyone I asked at work already knew about it.

Good. I wanted to say "1+1=religion" in a math thread, is one of the funniest things i've heard in a while. Move on now. Don't ban me please :hattip:

As someone who has done a fair amount of math for a bachelor’s degree computer science and a masters in science for information systems....this is the most jacked up shit ever. No wonder we are not producing top science students anymore. :(
