Who has one? Has it made your life easier? What do you use it for misty?

Trying to decide if I want one. I can’t really see myself getting $500 of use from it outside of the fitness part.

My wife has the 3 and she likes it. She uses it for her fitness classes. From what I can gather, it is an extension of the iPhone and can work with Seri to do things like call people, set timers, etc. as well as track exercise. She is constantly having to charge it as the battery life isn't very good. At best, it lasts 2 days without using GPS. She also just had to ship it back to Apple for repair/replacement because the most recent update caused it to crash and display an "!" with a message to contact Apple.

I personally have a Garmin VivoActive 3 and really like it. It is more of a watch with GPS capabilities and exercise tracking. The charge will last about 7 days without using GPS. When we were researching the watches I got the impression the Apple was for people that want the latest technology but it doesn't offer very accurate exercise tracking compared to other offerings and the Garmin is more of a no-frills watch that has better GPS and exercise tracking capabilities. Although, I am a little bias as I don't like Apple products.

I have an Apple Watch, and it is OK. There are good features, but as Jrfor0 says the battery doesn't last and I charge it every night. The features I like are being able to see text messages and Caller ID without pulling my phone out of my pocket. The Activity and fitness tracking are pretty basic but work for my needs. If I lost/broke it tomorrow I probably wouldn't pony up the $$ for a replacement but I would definitely miss some of the conveniences.

Depends on your intended usage. I've got a Garmin Forerunner 230 it works for me because I wanted a standalone GPS capable watch for running and biking. It does notifications which are helpful but I don't have any interest in it doing more. Battery life is great too usually 5 days with GPS enabled workouts, closer to 3 weeks without GPS.

I have an Apple Watch and my brother has a Garmin. If I could do it over again I would go with Garmin. Mine is a 1st gen so I know the new Apple watches are much improved but the Garmin seems to be better in a lot of areas and has a much better battery life. Mine lasts a day and his lasts over a week.

I had one and didn’t care for it due to the battery life. I now have the Suunto Spartan Trainer which I really like. Still receive texts. I use it to track my runs and HR and the battery lasts about a week and half to two weeks.

They seem like a lot of bucks for a watch/extension of an I Phone. I just do not see the need but am a droid guy too.

$500 could go a long way on a moderately priced Swiss timepiece......

I only liked it when I had meetings and was ignoring my colleagues by playing with the watch. Ended up selling it. Because they aren’t timeless like a good analog watch. Battery life issue. You will have to constantly buy a new model.

    Yeah seriously.

I have nice watches worth more than an Apple Watch.

Kinda like saying a flip phone is better than a smart phone.

Honestly just irrelevant to the conversation altogether.

Back to your question, I’ve checked out Apple watches, but I don’t really like the look of them. The android ones have a lot more choices in styles. I wonder how well they integrate with Apple devices.

I collect watches and also work in the cutting edge of technology, but have absolutely no interest in an Apple watch or similar. I stick with the traditional watches.

That’s what’s kept me from getting serious about one. I switch up watches every day, and still never wear some of them. Smart watches just don’t fit in a rotation.

There are two main types of iwatch. One with phone service and one without. The one with phone service is more expensive and you end up paying an extra $5-10 per month. Allows you to leave your phone at home and still get phone calls and text messages and streaming music. Good if you run and don’t want your phone in your pocket.
The one without phone service has to be within range of your phone to receive calls and text. This is the one I chose because of $$$.

Main use, using it as an actual watch. Much easier than pulling the phone out of the pocket.
    Other good uses are:
    1. Quick caller id
    2. Monitoring activity - activity ring app has goals for movent, exercise and standing. Actually keeps me in check so I’m not too lazy.
    3. Heart rate check
    4. Quick weather check
    5. Quick date check
    6. Breath app to help calm you as a meditation here and there
    7. Quick notification check

I got the nike sport one for the band and because it’s more fitness focused.

    Good info thanks.

I like the cellular version. Think it would handy for mountain biking and other outdoor stuff. They say after fees it’s more like 16-17 bucks a month extra, so probably wouldn’t go for it.

Still using a gen 1 and it still works. But I often times forget to charge it and I tend to where a gschock more because of my job. But overall i like it!

@T-Rex266 has one he’s selling cheap. Minor scratch on screen. He can send you pics/video so you can see watch and decide if you want it.

    Love mine!
I use it a lot more than I thought I would.
    Would def recommend.

If you don’t care about all the upgrades you can probably get away with a series 2 or 3.
