Adjustable hitch question

Recently purchased a B&W Tow and Stow hitch with 5” drop. Installed it and it scraped on a hill. Is this too long of a drop for the stock 18 Tundra? Hoping the shop will exchange it for me for a 3 inch drop hitch since they recommended the 5 for the Tundra.

 

That depends on the height of your tundra. Is your trailer level when hooked up as well as your truck with the squat of the trailer on it? Are you using a weight distribution set up?

Truck is lifted with Icon Stage 3 RXT in the rear and 35s.

 

That’s what I tried to buy and they acted like I was stupid and suggested the same hitch but the tri ball option with 5” adjustment.

 

If im lifted and it works, it will most certainly work for you. Just order it. And unless you need the third ball, two is plenty. most trailers use 2inch anyways.

They were probably just trying to get you to spend more...

 

I'm running the same hitch as you with no problems, but I'm running timbrens and CB+3 shackles and running 285/70r18's. Are you lifted, is your truck squatting out with the load you're hauling? If you're not planning on lifting your truck or adding airbags/timbrens then a 3" drop might suit you better.

 

Yeah I think I’m gonna try to return it (considering it scraped the hell out of the bottom of the hitch since it was their recommendation. If not I’ll be selling the 5” one and purchasing the 3”.

 

Just checked mine and I'm at the second from the top setting for most of my trailering, guess I could of gotten the 3" drop as well, at least with what I've been towing so far.
