Viair system

Anybody running a viair constant duty system? I’m trying to see some locations where I can mount the tank and compressor.

I have a viar tank with the arb twin compressor hard mounted. My tank is mounted infront of the spare tire with the compressor mounted under the passenger side back door. I'll see if I can get some.pics today . I do have my old viair compressor I could sell.

 

I never thought of mounting the compressor there I like it!

yeah when i was doing my bedsides it just made sense... that being said, not sure there is enough room under stock bedsides. So keep that in mind, i have fiberglass bed sides.

 

My Viair compressor is mounted against the firewall under the hood on the passenger side, pulls air from the intake box behind the filter. The tank is mounted to the frame in the C channel under the passenger doors. The air chuck is up inside the fender well of the rear passenger wheel.

 

When you wheel so hard you gotta carry backup leaf springs

No, ran the plastic hose inside a fuel hose. Same to the air chuck. I need to do the same with the line to the rear differential.

 

Last weekend I started installing my VIAIR 444C dual compressor system. This, along with the 8 gallon tank pictured in the bed below, are part of a system that will be used for my Hornblaster Nightmare train horn kit and to fill my airbags and tires as needed. The compressors are attached to the interior toolboxes of my A.R.E. MX shell with full walk-in back door and while they might seem to be in a strange place, that spot is just wasted space when the door is closed. I can basically fit one finger between the compressors and the door when it's closed.

Ultimately I'll be moving the tank out of the bed and underneath the truck, this was just the path of least resistance for what I need through the end of the year.

 

Trayday I love your install, did you just bend that little horn or buzzer thing out of the way (right next to the air intake box) and did you just shoot sheet metal screws into the wheel well to secure that pump? I have the exact same pump. I don’t know what that buzzer or horn thing is, but mine seems like
It would have to move to get my pump in there

I didn't do the install on that little black thing. I did relocate ground wires and cut up the wheel well so it shouldn't be an issue. @Berdine @michaelsflowersjr I'll take some more shitty pics later today and share them.

 

the small round thing that looks like a horn button was relocated to the double ground wires.

Well I got my air compressor installed today. My kit is the

$451 Viair 10007 Constant Duty Onboard Air System

Viair 10007 with the 2.5 gallon tank. I removed the back seats from the crewmax, and both fit nicely back there. I didn’t want to drill holes through the floor, so I went and bought some 3m velcro, I put it on the feet of the tank, I mounted the compressor on a piece of plywood, also screwed the on/off switch and air gauge on there. I didn’t take photos though. But the Velcro worked excellent with the carpeting can plug in the coil up hose on the passenger side. Also bent a piece of 3/8” stainless steel tubing for the drain with a stainless ball valve, so now it can drain water by pissing it outside instead of on the carpet. All in all I’m happy. That space behind the rear seat needs to be used, it sucks that you can’t access it easier. I’ll try to get a couple of photos of what you can see in the next couple of days maybe

 

I have been looking at their heavy duty on-board air system. I am thinking of mounting it on the underside of my diamondback on the front panel, any thoughts on this vs an ARB system. ARB seems to be a higher price point but these seem like a better bang for your buck.

 

Only thing about that would
Be needing to remove a panel and having it mounted to it, but maybe it’s not a issue. I think both the ARB and the Viair are both made in China compressors that are rebuildable. I’m big on made in USA, but that Viair compressor is good quality, I did buy a model that is continuous duty. I would think that is the most important part, but you can buy parts to rebuild it if you ever do. I have the crewmax cab and ALL of mine is mounted in the wasted space behind the rear seat. If I use it it is noisy, but normally you aren’t in the truck when you are using it. But it also breathes clean cabin air too. I think ARB builds great stuff but to me just way overpriced

 

BTW I mounted the 2.5 gallon tank and the compressor there. I got some badass heavy duty 3m Velcro and it sticks to the carpet so well that you don’t need to drill any holes. On the compressor I mounted it on a small piece of plywood with the Velcro on the bottom and it sticks well too. I did that so the vibratory bushings where it screws down could properly compress like it’s supposed too, I also screwed that on off switch and gauge on that piece of plywood too, so you can open the rear drivers door and flip on the switch when your needing air

 

I am surprised you could fit that tank behind the seat, but I am guessing it is smaller than I am picturing in my mind. I am thinking I could mount the tank and pump here and it would not take up a lot of room.
