If its hot then either it has not Nitrogen or oil in it. It should not spin - looks like it has no pressure. Hit it with your air compressor for now and see if it goes away. You can always release the air and fill with Nitrogen when you find someone to do it.

Start at 2:15 simple as that
Only he doesn't use the gauge and doesn't say what his regulator is set to.
The correct way is to use a shock gauge or make sure the regulator is set correctly.

It’s hot for sure. I can shake it and hear the oil inside slosh around.
    Is that normal?

You don't need to remove the shock or coil spring - charge it while on the truck on the schrader valve on the resi

Yea, I meant in order to check to see if it’s leaked out.
I’ll hit it with some air right now!

I agree with n2deep. If you have a tire gauge capable of high enough pressure stick it on the shrader valve and see. If you need to drive I would put air in it, cleaner drier is better, otherwise remove and get charged. It can damage the shock.

I have used 125psi off my air compressor before I had nitrogen so I could drive down to the tire shop and have them put nitrogen in it.

I have another car to drive, so yea - don’t need to.
I have my compressor set to 110 lbs - I think I can up it to 125.

110 is fine - it should be enough to make the clunk go away to tell if that is the problem

Just talked to the local shock builder!! He said I need to remove the damn thing from the truck to fill!
Also! He said pull the opposite side and see if I can hear fluid, and I CAN NOT!
The clunk side, I can clearly shake and hear the fluid.

    It’s the Fing shock! LOL
BUT I don’t want to pull the damn thing, fill with Nitrogen, then reinstall and have it not work! LOL

Sounds like everyone here tells you that you can fill it while it’s on the truck. Why is this guy being difficult if that’s the case? Also why does low nitrogen pressure cause it to rub on the spring? Or is that a problem solved and I missed it?

That could be true. But why have a guy go through all that hassle if you can check it quickly by putting some nitrogen in it? Maybe it was sent out that way. If it seems to fix the problem and doesn’t return then it’s done.

But I would also be thinking what kind of damage may have occurred driving around with no nitrogen already? I would almost want them to send me a new shock.

It doesn't have to come off the truck. Don't over think it. Go outside put some air in it and then test drive to see if the noise is gone. If it is then figure out how to either fill with nitrogen or return for replacement or rebuild if that's the decision. 99.9% sure there is no damage but it could be a loose valve core on the Schrader valve leaking. Or it could have just been sent without a charge.

Why? Did you even fill it to see if it's low or empty? Your going to send it back to have king charge it with nitro. SMFH. What a waste of my time trying to help and you didn't even try anything I suggested 5 days ago and 100 post later.

I hope you're being sarcastic...we all offer ideas, they are our own ideas and no one is required to try them. He had no reliable resource to test the pressure or add more nitrogen. And honestly I'd be leary to try some of your suggestions as well because I'd be afraid of screwing up the shock or voiding the warranty. These things aren't cheap and IMO he did the right stuff by checking a fewthings, then just sending them back for rebuild or replacement

That's a bummer. Maybe ask King if they will do an advance swap with a hold on your credit card. That way you don't have to put both of your stock shocks back in to use the truck. Also try putting air in like @n2deep suggested. You have nothing to loose. Just remove the air before shipping it back to King so you can test.

The resi should NOT spin like the video I posted. It’s a bigger issue than Nitro.
That’s per King. I’m not going to fill with air - there is no reason to.

He spent more time calling around than it would to add air to the shock to see if that was the problem. Not gonna void the warranty or damage the shock. I have run 2 days off-road with a King shock no oil or nitrogen.

I'd be nervous they would somehow know and not honor the warranty. Theres definitely something to lose IMO

The resi spins because there is no pressure holding it - thus out of nitrogen.

    This exactly.

Regardless - it’s not just a nitro issue - per King rep.

Rep said it should never spin - if it was a nitro issue, he would’ve said fill with Nitro I would assume.
