Is this someone here and is this a previous model?

 

Not sure I understand the question. The model shown in the video is the V2 without knobs. It looks to be the initial boot ie "long boot up". After the initial boot you should have the "fast boot" unless it is idle for 24 or 48 hours (whichever you have selected) .

 

It says V2, is that the latest version people are getting here, the one with fast boot? (I'm not sure, I'm thinking it is because it has no physical knobs)

I'm confused why it's taking so long to boot and if anyone else here is having the same problem. I'd like to pull the trigger sometime, and hoping these issues are far and in-between.

 

I'm going to install an external XM receiver such as the Commander and Plug it int the aux port. The XM app will work by I prefer to use the Satellite instead of using hotspot data.

 

I have no issues with the fast boot. The very first initial boot took 30-60 secs but every boot since has been very fast.

For sat radio you will have to get a separate tuner and connect it through RCA jacks or something like that. There is no sat receiver in this head unit. If you get a tuner that can connect with the stock antenna you will be gtg. Otherwise you will have to use a separate antenna.

If you can find an adapter for the GPS then you can use the stock anteanna for that. Otherwise you will have to use the GPS anteanna that come with the head unit.

 

No surius hookup for a fancy head unit with so many bells and whistles

 

Pretty sure you have to pay Sirius or xm for their tech.

This is the Fast boot second version but for some reason after this guy installed an update he lost fast boot. He has been in contact with Phoenix and is trying to remedy the issue.

 

Yea you can. However the GPS antenna plug in the tesla HU is a type SMA female and the maestro adapter plug for the stock antenna is a type SMB female. I've ordered a SMA male to SMB male adapter which won't be delivered until Monday. This adapter will then allow plug and play with the stock GPS antenna.

 

There ya have it! Nice!!

 

Wish they charged an extra 100$ to make everything work. Oh well. Good solution

You'll need to request to join, but it's usually quick.

 

Beware, though, that many of us are still waiting to receive our units from the first group buy. Buyer be warned that this can be a very painful waiting game to get what you order.

 

When was that sale? Ya, that be painful considering the cost. I’ve had to wait 3 months for eBay items from China but they’re usually less than $50 and held up at customs. Do you at least have tracking? Or still waiting to be shipped?

 

I ordered mine Aug 20, still waiting for it to be shipped. No tracking yet.

The group buy ended Aug 28, and we were told the units without buttons/knobs would ship after the group buy ended, and the ones with buttons/knobs would ship 2 weeks after that. We’re now 5 weeks past that.

 

Wow almost 2 months, it’s like they’re making them as orders come in. Part of me says just get a proven HU with CarPlay and start upgrading sound components, but I rarely crank it and that giant screen though hmmm

 

My order was place on the 25th and still nothing too..

 

To be fair it was pre-announced that the new generation 2 version would come in 2 flavors. One version that was already in production was the new "no button" version. The other flavor was a new idea that would include new smaller knobs and buttons. This new flavor was not in manufacturing and the Tundra group over on Facebook actually got to define what each new button and knob would do. This new design was not in manufacturing when the group buy ended and it was estimated to be about 2 weeks after the first shipment that they would have the new version ready to ship. As with most businesses, ti took a little longer than 2 weeks to get the new button version out of manufacturing.

Also, upon ordering, you had the option for expedited shipping or the slow boat. I believe that all who ordered expedited has been delivered their unit and the non expedited are in progress.

I state all of this because there are times when folks like to pile on when things don't always go as planned. However, as a business guy, I've delt with a lot of outfits manufacturing out of China (today's fact of life) and this PHoenix outfit is much more responsive to the Tundra community than most. Timelines don't always go as planned, but they are delivering and helping the community.
