I’ve flipped the child lock thing up and down, flipped the lock back and forth, wiggled the handle.....neither of my rear doors are opening from the inside!! What should I check? I did recently have the panels off installing some speakers, which seems to be when it started. Everything is normal from the outside. Thoughts???

Sounds like a mechanism wasn’t placed back. You’ll want to remove the panels again and try to see where it latches at

On the handle end or something inside the door?

Since it’s ocurring from the inside, I would take the panel off and move the door latch from inside to see what it’s not connecting

it's been a year since I was in there but I'm sure there was two cables I unhooked to get the door panel off, one for the latch and one for the lock. Probably never hooked them back up

I remember hooking them back up, and the door has been opened since I removed the door panel.....guess maybe one popped out or something. I’ll tear into it this weekend and find out

It's strange that both rear doors won't open. If you forgot to reconnect something on one door I'm thinking the other door wouldn't be affected.

Same thing happened to my dad’s ‘14 double cab. He took his to the dealer to be fixed under warranty.

Is there a child safety switch for the rear doors like I have seen on some other vehicles?

cables have a notch where you need to press them in. maybe it wasn't put back correctly and made its way out. it's mechanical so not much can go wrong here.

Just a thought, do you have a aftermarket alarm? I had one installed and only driver side and passenger side would lock/unlock took to another installer, they said who installed wired wrong, now all doors lock/unlock

Make sure your cables are locked into place on inside of panel.
