No one makes an overlay for the platinum badge as far as I know, and I've looked. Easiest and cheapest is plastidip. I'm gonna take my badge off and then apart and custom paint it one of these days.

I actually have a new set still in the package that I’m not gonna use. I also have the Tailgate Insert but no platinum badge. Let me know if you are interested. Tundra x 2, 5.7 x 2, and tailgate Insert..

I had my dealership throw that in with the agreement of purchase. I only wanted the tailgate insert but I do kind of want the 4x4 one now as well

I recommend getting cheap replacements not overlays on eBay and do it right by taking the old badges off with 20lb fishing line and clean it up with a Whizzy Wheel. Overlays will eventually separate from moisture in between.

    AD4DF791-D766-453B-8A5E-F2768BEEB501.jpg

Then take the Platinum badges off, wet sand, coat with Rustoleum primer followed by their paint, the one that bonds to plastic for better adhesion, that’s less than $20 and less than what overlays or replacements would be if they existed, I’ve never seen them. iirc, that badge also comes apart if you want to play with colors.

I just recently Plastidipped my steering wheel silver pieces and the cup holder only to peel it off and do the above, looks so much smoother and nicer.

Working on fixing mine... last minute of course so a bit of a rush job.. leaving for offshore in a few hours. Hopefully I'll have them done tonight. I'll post a thread once they are complete. Way more work than expected lol 20181009_182942.jpg
    Just started the blue lettering..15391356978387744456975464306627.jpg

Handpainting the blue... never do this lol. Dealer gave me free paint.. so I said screw it and tried it. Terrible idea.

That's what I was going to do!!!! Minus the paint brush lol, but same colors. Might need to copy you or do something similar.
Possibly the word platinum and the background part of the TUNDRA will be blue and the rest black. Hhmmmmm

I took mine off and bedlined the outside emblem and letters and then wrapped the "Platinum" in gold vinyl to match my wheels. Glad to be able to take them apart and customize. I liked it debadged but like it with the emblem more.

Color matched grille would be awesome. Trying to find a decal to go on my emblem with the stock platinum grille atm. Havent decided if I will ditch it or not yet. And if I keep my tss rims I'll be adding some blue accents as well. But feel free to copy my emblem lol You live a few miles away lol only risk is an awkward exchange at a gas station one day lol not too many people are crazy enough to go through all this work.

I saw this and liked it but I'd still want some black. All the "mesh" I would definitely leave black. I definitely want to do the center bar blue, just not sure if I wanna do those two areas on the ends blue too. Or maybe do those blue and center bar black? Or all blue, or.....:notsure::help::boom:

Anyway I can't wait to see how your badge comes out!!!

I like that idea of tying in the wheels and it looks great.
I think I'll do similar but blue, I've also considered keeping the badge silver to tie in my OEM wheels. Really I adjust wanna get rid of the chrome TUNDRA lettering. Hmmmm

That whizzy wheel didn’t do any damage to the paint at all?

I have been feeling the same way, like the PLATINUM lettering should be platinum in color, but even Toyota did it black. I'm more confused than ever at this point as to what I'm going to do to my badge

I'd try a couple different things. The main part of the emblem is a metal foil wrapped around plastic so it'll withstand anything but high heat. (I tried a few things) so ultimately you could remove what you put on with brake cleaner or thinner...

None. Just keep it moving so it doesn't get to hot. Then wipe it down and put a fresh coat of wax. Good to go.

No, not at all, I would definitely notice on my black truck. If you want to take extra precautions, wheel away at a fast enough drill speed to do the job, not in one spot so it gets too hot. Stop when you’re left with a thin film, GooGone that last bit off, not with the wheel. Polish and wax afterward and you can’t even tell something was there. Now if your truck is older, there may be tonal differences due to UV exposure versus paint that has been protected over the years by a badge.

I imagine any damage reported in an Amazon review is wheeling too aggressively or perhaps with a different brand wheel.
