If I don't get rid of my truck for a crewmax, one thing I really want to do is install katzkins due to the kids.

Our only authorized installer within 50 miles wants $1900 installed for all black w/gray piping and heat units. I think that sounds a little steep for a DC. Even if it's not, I don't want to drive the 48 miles to drop the truck off for a day and a half. Would be easier if I could find a more local installer.

I was considering buying them online and searching for a third party (or dealer) to install them. The problem is most sellers on ebay sell just sell the leather with no customization or options for heaters, etc. I found a few online retailer's that claim to be authorized Katzkin dealers but it seems a little shady when there aren't any reviews of the site.

Looking for recommendations from those who purchased outside of an authorized installer.

    Thanks.

I can’t recommend an installer, but I called an installer in the Denver area. The cost was $1400 for a CM. Just to give you an idea on price..

The most economical way is $550 from seller “touchups” minus 15% eBay coupon when it comes up, install yourself over a weekend. That’s the route I took as my nearest installer wasn’t cheap and in another city.

It’s doable but takes about 2h per seat, treat it like your reupholstering not putting on a cover in that you press out the wrinkles and use a $20 steamer off Amazon, one that you would pack in a suitcase on vacation, then it won’t be one time use. You can use twist ties or hog rings and hr pliers ($25 for the set, faster, hold/clamp/done). There’s not that many and they clip the piping to the foam’s piping in certain seams, not all. It’s basically the reverse of pulling the cloth off.

You can also buy seat warmers on Amazon, you ground the one wire, the other wire is wedged into a fuse called “Seat Heater” in the set of fuses by the left footwell, so it only turns on when the truck is on. You can install the switches wherever you want, mine:

    7E09D9D7-0D71-423A-865C-BEBE649013C9.jpg

“touchups” offers a few specialty ones for more but you’ll need to go to Katzkins themselves for customization (2-tone, piping, logos, etc).

    https://m.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=tundra+double+katzkins&LH_BIN=1&_sop=15

I definitely recommend K’s DIY or not, you’ll love your truck all over again and it’ll feel brand new.

You might try sending a message to Touchups. I did before I ordered mine and they said they do not have them in stock but order once they sell a set. They might be able to order what you are looking for.

Also Like JoshuaA said they are not hard to install. Mine cost me around 800 with seat warmers and a day in the garage. I posted a write up of the install if you decide to try it.

I'm getting all black leather with gray double stitching including heated seats in my DC. Located in Denver. My friend works for a dealer and the company that does all of their custom leather is doing it for $1,300. I thought this was a fair price including install.

One question about Katzkins with seat heaters, how do you turn them on? Do they install a button for this on your dash?

There’s a few different ones on Amazon, I got these, you need one set for each seat as there’s a panel that sticks to the seat and one on the lumbar. They both come through the middle out the corner of the leather opening and connect to a harness that’s long enough to install the switch anywhere you like (you can see where I did above). If you really wanted to, you could install seat heaters front and back. Push up and it’s a red lit high setting, gets nice and warm fast, push down and it’s a green lit low setting to maintain the heat, or turn it off in the middle toggle. That space in the middle of the pad allows you to install hog rings where a seam rod would be.

    4FAC39BD-E26E-4406-BB8A-15050E5DC533.jpg

This is how the center console is removed to install your switches.

There are 2 long wires that come out of the harness. One is a ground, the other you tap into the fuse box I explained above to power the seats when the ignition is on.

Next time I'm going with a upgraded leather kit from the get go. The first time around I went with the $550 eBay kit. After two years of gentle use I wasn't happy with the way they looked. I was about to spend upwards of $1K to get a upgraded kit to replace them. I ended up finding a leftover Katzkin Night runner kit for only $299 that I liked better. Do it once and do it right!

They pop up on eBay from time to time. My guess would be they are either overstocked or ordered for a customer and then not needed. The leather kit I have in my truck now is actually older than the truck itself(seat covers made Oct 2015 and truck built April 16)

The company that does custom katskin covers for the Toyota dealerships here in N Virginia charges about 1500 for all black leather and install. However they would charge about 650 if I supplied the katskin.

If they're using the basic Katzkin, they're charging $950 for it ($550 ebay - 15% coupon). $650 labor for 4h (pro time) if you bring your own.

DIY and have extra cash for upgraded perforated leather, seat warmers/cooling kit.

Ask a local upholsterer how much for the install if you were to order/supply. Maybe $100-200 per seat.

Hello. I am the aforementioned "Touch-Ups", if you have any questions about Katzkin, Alea, or Roadwire leather kits, or seat heaters and degreez systems, I'll see if I can help. Good job on the Nightrunner kit btw, and nice switch placement too. I've always liked that kit.

Is there any difference between the katzkin kits from eBay or from an authorized shop?

Does the degreez kits gice cooled air or just ventilated?

No difference. You have to be an authorized dealer to buy them anyway. The 550ish kits on eBay are the exact kits we install. I basically have stacks of stock kits and one may get installed, or it may get sold online...Same kit. The degreez system works by raising or lowering the ambient cabin air temperature by around 20 degrees. Katzkin has a great guide here: And just so you know, the degreez system they sell is literally the exact same system used in Ford vehicles.
