Ha! It's so ironic how my toyota dealership had no issue this time around finding a fault with the forward radar sensor. "Seems to be 100% the issue!" I was told..... they said it showed signs of hmmmm u guessed it..... WATER! now just waiting on a new one from warehouse...ill update tomorrow if truck is ready.... fingers crossed!

Finally got around to drop mine off at dealership to take a look at it during my 10K service. Mine has been going great until about 9,000 miles or so. I leveled it and put a TRD grill on it but did not have any issues for over 5,000 miles. They couldn't pull any codes. They tried to blame it on my front camera telling me I must have tapped into the sensor to cause the malfunction. Told them I did not and many other people are having the same issue. They told me they needed it for a full day to further troubleshoot. I am sure when I bring it back in they will blame it on the level or me relocating it. Hopefully they will get to the bottom of this. Also I live in SoCal and I garage mine so other then carwashes it virtually never gets wet.

Or bad quality checking before going on our trucks. All new units are being water tested before going out as replacement parts.

I will be following this thread with interest. My 2018, 1794, TRD Off Road, was built in late May 2018. It has about 1500 miles on it. No mods. So far the pre-collision warnings I have seen (3 of them) were a good and proper warning. I have washed the truck even using a pressure washer at times. I hope it stays working as well as it does. Times will tell.

Same here. It's just frustrating. My truck drives awesome, but the TSS issue is aggravating. I think it would be different if the warning didn't consume the whole middle of the dash. I use the digital speedometer more than the regular so I can't stop noticing it.

And the drama continues..... PCS Unavailable warning came on and the PCS OFF icon came on while the system was on.....back to the grindstone...call to the dealer and toyota corp.... see where we go from here...

    Update:

I got a call from my dealer saying that the new sensor had arrived and I got it put in yesterday. It was a very quick job and so far I haven't had any PCS issues but I need more time with it to be certain. Bonus points, I left a 6 pack in the back seat for my buddy that works there and my seat belt warning chimes were turned off when I got the truck back!

Not to sound pessimistic. But it will most likely fail again. Each new sensor for me lasted 200-300 miles. But hey, good luck.

I keep staring at the dash waiting for it to go off again. It wouldn't surprise me if it malfunctioned again to be honest.

Yeah each of my 3 replacements lasted a couple hundred miles only. This started at 900 miles on the odometer. Now at 9000 and still not fixed.

Have you started the buyback process? This was my 3rd trip to the dealer so if the new sensor continues to malfunction I'd be extremely inclined to send my notice of the final repair attempt.

Got a followup call from the case manager to make sure there have been no issues since the part was replaced. At that time, we spoke about how they can make it right. At first they claimed they were only authorized to offer me up to $300 in Toyota parts. I mentioned that I thought it would be appropriate to at least cover one month's car payment due to the 45 days I've owned the car and have been dealing with this issue. I asked to have their manager call me back to discuss raising that cap. I got a call back not too long after that saying they got the go ahead to offer me a check for 1 month's car payment which ends up right around $500. I'm sure I could have gotten more but i felt like that was a fair deal. So for anyone going through this and has a case open with corporate, be sure to ask them to make it right.

Yes they just sent a denial letter. If I want to proceed I need to go to arbitration or get a lawyer. There reasoning was that the TSS issue doesn’t impede the use or safety of the truck. Meaning a failing safety system doesn’t affect the safety of our trucks. So does that mean they are saying the TSS system doesn’t do anything to keep us safe. I’m lost and kind of surprised by Toyota’s stance.

Took mine in with light on, put it on the Tech Stream, ordered new sensor and wire. Fixed it with no argument or fuss . Happy so far.

I have random problems with my sensor as well on my Platinum model. Also my key fob will unlock the drivers door from a reasonable distance but the other doors won’t unlock till I’m right next to the truck.

Following this. Mine just randomly turned off and went back on a couple times with just under 1600 miles on it. Been logging every time it comes on so when I get a chance to bring it in there shouldn’t be any argument to just replace it. The trouble shooter in me wants to take it out and see if water is indeed the culprit being we’ve had a lot of rain around here lately. But I need to have it to the dealership first

Just bought an 2018 Crew Max and already have the same problem intermittently with just 400 miles on the truck. So Cal here so not much rain. Glad to see the team is already raising hell about it..very annoying issue. Taking it in this week to hopefully get fixed or at least start documenting things.

Also have the TPMS error coming on all the time. Dealership told me this is sometimes "normal" in the morning. I don't like that answer however my wife's old BMW did the same BS and the BMW dealers said the same thing. The issue with the Tundra is its not just in the morning it happens all the time throughout the day. I will be brining this issue up as well.

To Follow up on my post, I went into the dealership today and they checked everything out. According to the service Dept some of the calibration were off a bit during the diagnostics and they adjusted settings and sent me home. Was having multiple PCS issues on the way to the dealership even a brake now alert which was a new one. None on the way home so hopefully it was corrected but we will see. This dealership had never heard of this problem nor had anyone came in with these issues. They also did the SRS airbag update (Recall just announced by Toyota - purely software) while I was there as well. I will update the group if problems reoccur.

Hehe, welcome to the TSS/PCS problem club. I'm headed back to the dealer Friday for the 3rd time in regards t this even with the "new water tested" sensor. (surprisingly told it was on back order from corporate but they happened to have one). figure while its there they might as well take care of the 10k service and the recall... see how it all goes.:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:

I've put about 700 miles on my truck since the sensor has been replaced. I had one PCS malfunction in that time shortly after I picked up my truck. Nothing since then - knock on wood. Still waiting on my check from Toyota.

Yesterday was the third trip to the Toyota dealer in Melbourne FL about the PCS system not working issue, they changed wires and sensors and on the way back from the dealer after we pick it up the warning came back again, I am getting frustrated with this. Took it back today and now they claim they cleaned the glass in front of the camera and that should fix it !!!!!!!! really they down have a better excuse now ????
I guess they have no fix for this issue.

Yeah it’s a joke. One time I brought it it with video of it on earlier that day. Toyota engineers tried dismissing the multiple videos saying that couldn’t see the elements. Didn’t know it it was cloudy, raining or if the truck was not clean.

I told them they should change the brochure and say that the TSS system will keep you safe but only in perfect conditions. Doesn’t work in the rain, snow, cloudy conditions or if your trucks been used outside.

Well, heard from the dealer.... apparently toyota Corp wants them to hold my vehicle and drive it around with a scan tool attached to see when this random issue occurs and if it shows a code or not. So, no idea when/if I'll be seeing my truck again.... being that as I explained to the dealer it's RANDOM!! Last time it occurred was 3 weeks ago and 2 weeks prior to that and about 2 weeks before that one....so all said and done 3 times in a month and half... how long before they get it to show??? Who's paying my note and fuel bill while they are adding mileage to the Clock? This is very frustrating. I asked then to disconnect the whole system... was told they can't do that.... I may be going back to a Chevy!!!

OK, so the mysterious and infamous PCS saga continues. Picked truck up from the dealer last night. Not gonna jinx it, but time will tell if its "fixed" again. So, basically after being told that they were gonna hold onto it, drive it with a scan tool attached, see if they can duplicate the issue...... But, then they are told by Toyota Tech to just swap out the sensor again. So much for a full diagnosis... See what happens this time around.
