I'm no audiophile as I'm sure most of you here are, but I would like to step up the sound in my '14 CM without paying a ton of money to installers. It seems OEM+ guys have a couple very attractive and relatively simple packages with handy video "how-to's" that I could probably attempt myself.

Has anyone installed their product before?

Link to their site (I have the non-JBL system) http://oemaudioplus.com/toyota/tcm/

Only seen one or two people go with the OEM+ kits and I think they were the jbl systems.

Since you have non jbl, just get a amp that takes speaker level inputs and swap it with the factory amp.
Get ahold of James at tech12volts and let him know what you are trying to accomplish and that you want to spend and he will hook you up

Thanks man. Just eyeballing it, does the OEM+ seem particularly expensive?

Tech12volts or ********* are the best-rated, least expensive, do-it-yourself-with-great-customer-service-if-you-need-help options I've seen discussed on this forum, to those of us who don't know anything about wiring and audio. ********* has discounts sometimes. Tech12volts, you let 'em know what you need to accomplish and what you can spend, and they'll create a set-up for that.

These days with all the aftermarket parts you don't have to be one. go to crutchfield.com click what fits my car..punch in what you have and what you want to do. Even if you don't get it from there it will give a good idea of what's involve. Most people replace the speakers and add an amp. Both are pretty straight forward. If you want to add a sub there are plenty of relatively inexpensive options.

@benboosted this is good advice about crutchfield.com. A lot of people on here with some audio-build know-how have gone that route. Keep in mind though that the head units for our Tundras are so lame that replacing the amp and speakers with most after-market options won't improve sound quality (there'd be noise) which is why a few specific products have been developed to improve the sound of our lame systems specifically. Of course, if you swap out everything including the head unit, the sky's the limit.

I started with replacing the headunit. added a sub, two amps, door speakers are next. by the way.. your sr5 should have an amp under the front passenger seat. I believe one of the vendors here have an after market amp that's plug and play.

The biggest problem I've had in the past with aftermarket audio components is with hiss and hum. The OEM Audio + system apparently doesn't have that issue. I honestly don't want to dick around trying to put a system together at this point in life. I just want to install it so I can enjoy it and move onto other things. If I were still in my teens or twenties I'd be all over researching/building/assembling a badass custom system. That OAP solution checks a lot of boxes for me.

I'm far from a teen don't care for loudness but does have to sound like I'm in a symphony. If that does it for you go for it. I would search online reviews.. I like to start with the lowest ones first. 5 stars don't tell me anything..I want to know what pissed the customer off and could I live with it.

I installed an OEM+ system in my 2016 SR5 without JBL speakers about a year and a half ago. Back when OEM+ was just beginning to produce systems for the non-crewmax cab Tundras (double cab). They make a sub-woofer enclosure with 8" sub that fits under the right passenger seat in the double cab Tundra's like a glove and looks OEM. Of course they also have systems for the crewmax cab trucks. Best upgrade I've done to my truck yet! Also, their systems are tuned for our trucks. No dicking around with EQ's and time delays. I just wanted something that was easy to installed and didn't require a lot of tuning. This system from OEM+ was it!

I installed the Reference 500Q system which includes the amp (which replaces the factory amp). Plug and play.

How did it turn out, are you happy with it? Does the one 8" sub provide adequate bass?

I did the JBL Enhancement on my Platinum CM. The upgrade in sound and especially the ease of installation make this worth it. I wanted to keep the stock radio also.
The non JBL if I remember correctly replaces more speakers as well.
My vote is oem audio plus.

It sounds great. I’m not 22 anymore, so I don’t need for the world to feel my bass as I drive by. ;). My husband the audiophile was impressed with the sound.

Excellent, yes I agree, I dont want over-powering bass either, I just want to be able to feel that I do indeed have a subwoofer and it isnt overshadowing or drowning out the lyrics of a song. I have been doing much research and to be honest I have kind of been trying to find every reason not to go with OEM Audio+ and doing a custom build but everything I seek in an audio system it seems as though OEM delivers so I think I am just going to take the plunge! Thanks for the feed-back.

I replaced (had installed by pro's) all my speakers with JL audio speakers and an Alpine amp for $600 and it's the best thing I have done . This was on a base 2015 SR DC

Can you just get the enclosure for the sub under the back seat? Kinda seems expensive for the whole thing without being able to get your own speakers to your liking

No you can't get the sub alone, the minimum package you can get is the sub, amp, wiring harness, and tweeters. The reason being is they have done extensive research and scientific acoustic development to produce a cinematic audio solution for your specific vehicle. They dont want to diminish their brand quality due to their components being implemented in an inferior, non-enhanced audio set-up. I do not blame them one bit for this, If I spent extensive R&D money to produce a harmonious audio package I'll be damned if my components get dinged due to improper implementation.

Haha, ya I was pretty drunk when I wrote that so I probably used a couple more words than were necessary, sorry. Point being though they designed, tested, and tuned all the components to work together. I'm going to pull the trigger on the system myself pretty soon. Hope it lives up to the hype!

if you lift both seats and lift the bin cover on the larger seat, you can just lift the sub enclosure out. They give you plenty of wire so you can totally set it out of the way on the back seat floor when accessing the jack.

So I think I understand that the sub enclosure sits in the storage box ... I'm assuming it is friction fit somehow so it doesn't have any wriggle room ... however considering the storage box is just plastic and not well bolted in I'm wondering how there is no rattling from the storage box when the sub is pumping away? One would think the plastic from the box would be vibrating ... no?

I had a bump this because I started a new thread but just saw this one. Are you overall pleased with the system and did you install it yourself I have a pro do it? Thank you

I am curious about this as well. I watched the install video, looks very, very easy!

I did install it myself. Super easy, removing the rear seat was the toughest part. I was happy with it but wanted more so I jumped on the @james@tech12volts group buy a while back.
