I really could use some help. I have been a loyal Tundra owner. I've had an 03, an 07, and now I have a SR5 2016. My problem is the change in the 2016's ride. It seems that with the 2016 they stiffened the ride. Unfortunately for me, I get carsick almost every time I ride in the 2016. I had no problem with the 03 or 07. I asked the service manager at my local dealer, and he said he'd look into solutions, but after 2 weeks, and 3-4 dodged phone calls from me, he said there was nothing he could do.

I did some research and have been impressed with the TRD suspension, but service manager didn't think that was an option. I really think he didn't look into any solutions.

Anyone have some ideas about how I can make the ride smoother? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

He said new suspension isnt an option? Lol wut? There are PLENTY of suspension options available- whats your budget? Also tire pressure can play a role in it as well as size.

He seemed like he really cared when I first called him, and that he'd call back in a day or two. I waited 4 day's and called, no reply. 4 more day's and called, no reply, etc... for two weeks. Finally, I went in. He showed me a sticky note on his computer with a wrong number on it. However, I left my correct number each time I called. He basically said there was nothing I could do. I really think he didn't look into anything and blew me off. At no time was I rude or disrespectful.

My budget is what ever it takes to fix it. I really don't want to sell it and take a loss.

Ok, thanks... I will look into toytec. What about getting a TRD suspension? Do you see that as an option?

There are a huge number of aftermarket suspension options out there! If you're impressed with the TRD suspension, get it. The guy doesn't seem like he even cares about your business. If you're somewhat mechanically inclined, get fully assembled shocks and put them on yourself, after, just bring it in for an alignment you should be good to go

Thanks, I am somewhat mechanically inclined, and replacing shocks shouldn't be a problem. However, I have no idea what kind I should look into. And, should I also get new springs?

Was hoping to come across someone who had a similar problem, and find out how they fixed it. I realize there are many shops I could go to, but I really don't want to try hit and miss on what's the best option. Thanks for you help though.

No problem. You can always get these guys opinion on this forum, as well as reviews on different products through the net. I opted for a spacer lift on stock suspension (probably getting a BOSS suspension setup in a year or two) my ride's a little stiffer but that can be blamed on the bigger tires I got. My brother in law has a TRD and I gotta say, I was impressed myself also. You can probably go to PARTZNET and get their TRD shocks. I'd shop around and get the best deal though. I don't think you'd need new leafs, just a softer or more solid rear suspension. Hope that helps some.

Oh, meant to mention a TRD or Hellwig rear sway bar, helps with body roll if that's a noticeable thing for you

I definitely won't be going back there. However, I already bought the truck, so the only reason I'd be going back is for oil changes and routine maintenance.

Remember to keep track of all service records on ToyotaOwners.com. Best way to do it. Especially if your ever sell/trade in your Tundra. My 07 is a keeper.

I may be mistaken, but with a new vehicle any Toyota dealer ought to be able to the free oil changes and such.

True, but the drive to the next dealer is quite a bit away. The service manager might have been a jerk about helping me, but why should I be put out for simple oil changes and such.

If a service manager ever jerked me around.... Come to think of it, no service manger ever jerked me around. Wouldn't let it happen .

Guess I've been pretty lucky, my hometown dealer generally treats me pretty good. But it helps with how many vehicles my family has bought through them (8 vehicles during my 23 years on Earth).

@Almay I have the stock TRD offroad shocks with 1000 miles on them that i took off my 16 in my shop that I'll let go pretty cheap if you want to upgrade. I'm located in Benicia.

The stock trd pro suspension is the smoothest ride I have ever experienced.
Entire package is a bolt on product made to fit your truck. Many people here will tell you it's overpriced and you can exceed the pro suspension quality at less cost by cherry picking various components elsewhere. This is true but depending on how much time and money you have and your interest in getting done with the issue quick and clean, it is an option to consider. Plus, you could experience this risk free by test driving a pro anywhere you can find one.

I think the advice from Sean about the air pressure is great and would be the first thing I'd check. If you want the ultimate "plush" ride, I think King shocks would be the choice. King, Fox, ADS, Icon..... all can be re-valved if, for some reason, you're not completely satisfied with 'em right out of the box. Theoretically, you only buy the shocks once and have them rebuilt down the road instead of replacing 'em. I replaced the TRD Bilsteins in my '16 and went with Fox 2.5 in the rear and coming soon ADS front. The thing about Bilsteins (someone correct me if I'm wrong please) is they have digressive valving. So, hard at first and getting softer as it compresses. Whereas the others (except Icon) are progressive. So, soft at first getting stiffer the more it's compressed.

Thank you! I appreciate your answer. I am not rich, but I am certainly more interested in getting this done quick and clean. A bolt on product certainly sounds like a great way to go. I used to work on cars as a teenager, but haven't for many years. Do you think this is something that can be changed by a "weekend warrior," or should I look into getting in done at a shop?
