I just recently picked up a 2014 CM limited, love the truck but after three weeks of ownership the only annoyance I have recognized is the seat comfort. The leather is pretty hard after long drives, I do have a bad back as well. My brother in law has a 2015 CM SR5 with cloth buckets and they feel much better to me. I inspected my buckets along with his and it looks like they are the same seat with just different covers as far as I can tell, I can buy a set of OEM cloth seat covers on ebay and have an auto upolstry shop just change the drivers seat out. My question is does anyone know if they are interchangeable?

Yeah they should be. The foam underneath should be the same for cloth and leather (non-bench seat) models. The seat covers are just held onto the foam with a few hog rings and j-clipped to the bottom of the seat frame.

Thanks for the info, do you think it's a DYI job, or should I take it to a shop?

I am looking into switching my cloth for leather and I came across this video on leatherseats.com. Looks pretty straight forward except the headrests. I would think that cloth would be an easier install, but might be easier to rip. I plan on attempting to install myself and if it goes south then I'll just take it to a shop.

I can tell you it's not hard at all,.just tedious and time consuming. I used the same hog rings, I used pliers to just open them just enough to get them loose, then reused them and squeezed them back together. I also got 4 cuts on my hands too.

Probably a little late but I have a 2015 dbl cab with "bench" seats up front, and my seats are exactly the same and buckets. The only difference is Toyota added a tertiary seat in the middle. However the two main front seat move independently.

Nice work bud!! Are you going to switch them all out? And if so are you going to sell the leather covers? I might be interested in them if you are...

I'm just gonna leave the drivers cloth, I do have the all the covers to switch if I wanted to, but it's time consuming !! If I ever decide to sell, I'll just switch it back to leather. I essentially paid 165 bucks just for the one drivers bucket :( , but it's way more comfortable.

Aside from the time consuming part, did you need any additional parts? Like new clips, etc. Did you do the headrest as well?

Just needle nose pliers and a regular set of pliers, no additional parts, standard socket set, I reused the hog rings. I did not due the headrest, two reasons, the covers I bought didn't cone with them, the reason is I believe they glued to the foam.
