Ok, I want to upgrade from my Taco to Tundra and need some ideas or PICS on how to modify the REAR FLOOR on the CREW MAX or what you have done if anything. I would keep seats in and in the UP position when my Labs are with me. Being 2 different levels made it super hard for them to balance or lay down. Thanks for any help :)

My 50 lb dog sits fine in there. Usually when she’s up and alert she’s on the elevated part toward the rear. When she wants to lay down she curls up in a foot well.

But building a platform with an offset base to sit level in a crew max should be straightforward.

Was thinking of a decent piece of tempurpedic type of foam them a layer of carpet cut to fit. I’m sure dogs would like it better being on the seats so they can hang
Their heads out the window like my Taco.

I have DC, but dealing with the same issue. Back seat storage makes rear floor uneven. I took a piece of plywood and cut to fit. Make sure to adjust front seats to get proper width. Blocked up plywood in front and back sits on storage box. Covered with indoor/outdoor carpet with spray on adhesive. Making a flat, level, stable surface for my dogs. On longer trips I throw in the dog bed. The dog hammock as mentioned above does help also. Good Luck.

I'm with TJ, got a topper, problem solved. I use topper for a million other things, but taking the dog with us was high on list.

Another thing is I could put a chest harness on my dogs for heavy braking. They would never hit the front of the bed or come through the rear window and take my head off.

I did the same thing. Works out well. Had one that went across the entire back seat, then we had a kid so I made a second one that just covers the larger of the two flip up seats. Then I put his bed back that and he is a happy camper.

Using 3/4' MDF, I built a platform that fit just right in the foot well, then wrapped and stapled commercial / thin carpet to it. The I put the dog bed on that even surface. At the risk of insulting any other Lab owners out there, I have the world's greatest Black Lab, nothing is too good for this damn dog, God I love this beast!

Our dogs wear harnesses and I have seatbelts that attach to their harnesses to keep them from becoming projectiles.

How's the soft canvas topper hold up? Any major flapping or noise at highway speeds? I was looking to get one just didn't want to be disappointed...

I have those, super nice, wish they were shorter though. my 70lbs pit/catahoula mix was able to jump out of the window with it on and was dangling beside my truck till I could slam on the brakes in the middle of traffic to get him back in. He lost his window privledges.

I’ve owned 6 Softoppers, never an issue unless you have something rub on it like a tree or rock.

Damn, that sucks. Glad he's okay. The ones I have are pretty short. You might have to break out the sewing machine or needle and thread to shorten them up.

When I first got my crewmax I tried the backseat hammock/seat cover, but my two great danes quickly broke it. So now I just fold the seats up and they do fine, no issues with the uneven floor.

Just fold the seats up. 12 yr old husky with back hip problems and he does great with uneven surface. Back legs usually in foot area and front legs on elevated underseat area to look out the window. Both him and the lab curl up in foot area on long trips for sleeping. Crew max has a lot of space. Not to hijack the thread, but how do some of you deal with the hair? I've got two German Shedders and we typically travel with them in crates due to the never ending hair left behind when they're not in the crate.

Doesn't matter how often they are brushed.

one of these. it's called a fur wand. i was skeptical but one of my daughters insisted. works well.

and several lint rollers. dogs don't normally get to ride in the truck because the fur gets everywhere. every. where. i can't handle it.

Vacuum vacuum vacuum. My husky sheds like no other. Vacuum and a brush just like a detailer would. Time consuming so I usually do it once every 3-4 months. Also having all season mats like husky or weather tech helps. I also have taken old fitted mattress sheets and placed over the back seats to cover from getting dog hair all over them. Not perfect but it helps.

Try incorporating coconut oil into their diet. My dog is a bad shedder but I literally get 1/4 as much hair as I used to whenever I brush him after a month or so of adding a teaspoon of coconut oil to his dinner every night.

I have a Chessie that pretty much lives in the back seat. I just sucked it up and bought the dyson car & boat handheld vacuum. I usually vacuum him and the seats once a week. Kind of pricey but I noticed myself using it for other things like couch cushions and smaller areas. And as you can see he has an unorthodox style of sitting in the backseat. Sometimes when I need to move a bunch of things he goes in the truck bed. Another reason I got the topper.

I just use a twin fitted sheet. Fit it around the seat corners and the top and tuck the excess in the crack. Easy to take out and wash too.

Saw this thing online once and Tried it nd it works well. Use a rubber glove (the thick yellow dish gloves are best) and you just kinda rub at it and it’ll pull it out of the carpet. I felt the vacuum wouldn’t get it once it’s tangled into the carpet. Glove worked super well pulling it all out

I made a wood platform that I put dog beds on when the seat is folded up.

Get a kennel and add a Mud River cover and put them in the bed. Strap the kennel down and everyone is safe.
