Anyone besides me removes the rear seat headrests? I can’t stand them. I like to see out my back window.

I did remove the center one on my Tacoma. Never found the need on my Tundra though, I have good visibility with them in place.

My dogs don't need them so I have removed them on my last three trucks.

I have removed them in the past, but not for visibility reasons though.

I just removed the center one in my Tundra to improve visibility. If I do take passengers (rarely, but I do sometimes), I want them to be safe. I've only carried two passengers in the back so far but I keep the center headrest in the under-seat storage compartment so I can replace it if I have a third rear seat passenger.

Same here. I like them put for visibility as well as the truck looms better with them removed.

If you are removing for visablity reasons you could just fold them forward. That way you can fold them back up for passengers.

Nope. I have passengers often in mine and want them to be safe.

As for visibility the thought never even crossed my mind on removing them. Interesting.

Not to mention the head bouncing off the back window which may be worse. Having the head rests on the left and right seats is not a problem for seeing out the back but with the center one removed, it is a clearer view. I did this on my 2006 as well but always kept it handy when I had a full back seat.

I had mine removed for three months. My 13&14 year old kids rode back there all the time. I asked this same question on this forum and they got my mind right. Not safe if you ride passengers back there taller than five foot tall . Peace. D

Yep me too. Kids are still in car seats right now so don’t need them yet. I’ve taken the rear seat head rests out of all my vehicles if I don’t have passengers

No but I've been thinking about it. I would like better visibility back there. Almost never have passengers in the back, but if I did remove them I'd put them back in when riding people there.

How tall are the ones that need to remove the headrest for visibility? Genuinely interested.

I’m 6’1” and don’t have an issue at all. I also have the swingarm for the mirror in the upmost position, Then adjust the mirror accordingly.

    Still rocking the stock height.
I have the middle one removed, think it looks better. But it's under the seat so if I have an adult in that seat I can put it back. Right now only my kids ride in the middle, and they are in a car seat. I can see over them just fine, I'm 6'3".

6'00" here. It's just when I want to turn around to back up that the rests are in the way a bit.

I’m over 6’ 2”, I don’t think height has much to do with it. I just bought a 2017 double cab this week. The 2 outer headrest on the rear seats are definitely a problem. I would guess it’s blocking about 20% of the back window. That area definitely creates a blind spot on both sides. The center headrest really isn’t a problem but does stick up a couple inches but I can easily see over top of that one.
Thinking about removing all 3 of them. I think it would look much better and be much safer when driving and trying to see out of the back mirror/window.

Does anybody here have the 14-18 rear headrest in graphite grey cloth they would be interested in selling? I only need one. I mistakenly cut tv's into the headrest but on the wrong side :(

6'4" and they are not obscuring my line of sight through the back window. Also no issue whatsoever with them creating a blindspot. Never really thought about it or considered it because I have kids.

I'm 6 9 and don't have any issues with the headrests. I did in my taco but that was due to seating height. The back window on the tundra is huge and from where I sit, the headrests only block the very of the end of my tonneau cover. And for those of you who know me, you caught me, by 6 9, I mean 69 inches lol, I'm not a big guy but the tundra fits me well compared to the taco, also has better field of vision and I feel, fewer blind spots, one thing that I hated about the Tacoma was the blind spot created by the rear view mirror, I ended up twisting it around 180° which raised it up enough to help, but it wasn't auto dimming so that sucked. The field of vision is pretty great in the tundra, especially for a large vehicle. My only complaint is when turning left out of a parking lot or road, the passenger side B pillar/seat creates a pretty substantial visual barrier, luckily I rarely have a front passenger to I can adjust the front seat to minimize this.

+1. I actually watched my father in law leaned his head back against the one on the rear passenger side and comfortably slept most of the way back from Lubbock. Now he only wants that seat every time they go somewhere with us.
