Cookie cutter lol. Last I checked they’re making almost 10 Tundras for every Raptor made. And you’ll see about 100 Tundras before you see one Raptor, hater.

And it’s not being stuck up, tons of people can’t afford one. Tons of people can’t even afford a Tundra. These are facts.

And by the way, you can make a Civic (or any inferior car for that matter) outrun a Lambo, but really who’s wanting the Civic over the latter. Same reason I went from Supra to Z06. Both awesome, but one is pure speed and one is pure speed plus a ton of features/tech/handling etc. And you’ll get no resale on a truck with 25k in aftermarket parts. Yet the Raptors holding very strong. Jmo

Call it being a hater. Heaters gonna hate. But at the end of the day, you bought a 2019 tundra, not a 2019 raptor.

Don’t get me wrong the raptors have their place, a stock “truck” that can can handle dunes and some jumps is cool. But there are better and cheap ways to do it if going to hit jumps is your thing.

If I wanted a long travel truck, I wouldn’t spend a dime over 10k on it. But I’d build it. And the thoughts I have on a long travel, it would crawl better then my 4runner would.

But at the same time how roudy have you gotten with your raptor? Ever jumped it? Ever had it on more then a dirt road? If you have awesome, your better then the other 90% of raptor owners who use it like a status symbol. If you do fall in that 90% shove off with the “only to who can’t afford them” bs go to the raptor forum and brag about your raptor over there

This thread is about Tundras and Raptors so if you don’t want to read about Raptors then don’t. I got an 18 Tundra. And a 17 Raptor (same as 19), to clarify.

Really enjoying the Tundra after the new suspension and will compare the two soon. But for me the Raptor is way more unique, has way more features, faster, literally has everything. I’ve taken it to the desert a few times and it’s amazing. I don’t have anything to compare it to as I haven’t taken the Tundra out yet. I have driven the Tundra on some very twisty up and down roads part pavement part dirt and it does okay. Far more body roll than the Raptor and doesn’t feel nearly as quick. Still fun though.

And I get that the Raptor is expensive, but you get a lot. You get basically everything and as much or more performance than most will use or need. Plus you get resale and exclusivity which you won’t get by adding a ton of aftermarket parts to an F150, Tundra etc. Won’t get all the tech etc

    Love it.
    Boy-that-escalated-quickly.jpg

The Raptor is not just a long travel truck though. It is not a TTB F150 with 22" of travel and an AM radio.

Long travel trucks are sweet. I've loved them forever. Yes you can build something to skim whoops on the cheap. But a Raptor is a luxury vehicle that can also hold it's own in the desert at speed. They do well in all offroad terrain and have every feature imaginable.

Feature-for-feature I believe the Raptor is worth it's asking price.

I still don't like the Ecoboost and would prefer the tried and true 6.2.

Amen brother. The EB is quick but the sound is underwhelming. Some trade-offs there for sure

O.K. I'll jump into the pissing contest as well. I am a Ford fan boy. I have been since I was a boy because that's what dad said was the best ruck out there. He had 250s that always ran without an issue, and we beat on those work horses. My mom was a chevy gal, and dad was always fixing it.

However, when it came time to pull the trigger myself. . . I chose the Toyota. Why? it was more comfortable, especially in the rear seats, just as capable, and 15k less for a comparable truck. I originally thought I would not like it, but it has been the best decision and I never want to give up my "Sunny." Would I still buy a Ford, yes, in a heartbeat, provided I needed to. . . . but let's face it the Toyota isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The low tech nature of it means it has less parts to fail, it has a motor that won't quit and is powerful enough, and I don't really off road so it won't break with stupidity.

Appreciate the perspective. However they are not comparable. If you’re talking about a Pro from the same year, there’s still not really a contest. Plenty of people to attest to this. Are they both trucks, with beds, that drive? Sure. But that’s about where the similarities end, imo. And I think the Pros are great. My problem with them is that, well, they still need a ton of aftermarket to help them get to where I’d want them. So basically, they’re no Raptor. And I’d just buy a Raptor at that point as it would be about the same price

Lol. 90% of raptor owners use it as a status symbol? More like 99.9%. I’ve seen like a thousand trucks offroad. Hundreds of jeeps, hundreds of Toyotas, even some Dodges and Chevys. Still have yet to see a single Raptor out in the wild. My neighbor down the street has one and when I asked him if he’s taken it out yet, he replied, “oh hell yeah... I take it to the mountains when I go snowboarding.”

It’s defintley easier to take a 40k truck out and go beat on it. That’s why I got the Tundra as the work truck/daily. The Rap gets special treatment haha

Some people.. in fact, most people, just want the best of the best. Some people love cars, love trucks, and they buy them for various reasons. You sound like a bit of a hater as well. You don’t see many Raptors out because there aren’t many. And it’s true a lot of owners don’t buy them solely to go beat them up in the desert/off-road. Just like a lot of Pro owners

That was exactly my point. You always hear “purpose built” from Raptor owners, but none of them actually use it for that purpose.

It’s a thread about some one getting rid of his raptor and when he listed reasons on why you jumped on him for his reasons.

I’m not even trying to create a comparison between the two. There isn’t one.

That said, the main sell on the raptor is it’s off road capability. If you want something on road faster get the eco boost sport and a tune. But if you want something that will compare in off road capabilities, there are much cheaper ways to do, and to trucks that I would feel as bad to do it with. Sure those trucks won’t have all the dodads and whos-it’s and whats-it’s galore, but it will be just as capable.

And there is where my opinion is. Not saying the raptors are bad, but for the simplistic man that I am, there are better options

yeah, sorry, I was comparing a Tundra to an F150. The Raptor is a purpose built Baja play thing. SO I get that a pro and Raptor are not directly comparable, but they are somewhat in the same space and the overall assessment is the same. The Raptor is an electronic marvel/off road play thing and then a work truck. The Tundra pro, on the other hand, is a work truck that then a more capable (as compared to a stock TRD) off road truck. Under this note we compare them.

As an aside, if a raptor had a V8 it would be more tempting then it currently is, that and I still rather tow a boat to the ocean then jump dunes. Which is why this Ford guy sticks with his tundra

Who wants to take bets on when Chi_weezy, I mean TunderStorm, will get banned again? This is “Raptor Thoughts..” all over again. Soon he’ll bring his raptor bro’s over from FRF.

I guess I will have to wait to "get older". When does that happen exactly? You must be much older than I am.

I still take pride in building stuff. That is all.

Banned for what? I’m a Tundra owner and a supporter of the vendors here. Some people lack perspective. Sorry for them.

I enjoy talking about cars and trucks and comparing them. Some people just can’t handle the truth. Don’t take it so seriously my brotha

Care to explain to me how that’s not simplistic it’s a truck it doesn’t need to be four-wheel-drive I don’t take it off road there is no need for me too I have other things to do that with
