Got my new 2016 Tundra Limited 4 X 4 and need to buy another tool box. Have pretty much always gone with the UWS tool box. Gonna keep this one a while and want a good one that will last. Any recommendations of brand/size. What about the low profile boxes?

Never owned one myself but my buddy just got a Cam Locker box for his 2016 2500. That box is NICE! Plus it's made in :oldglory:

I've been looking at this for a while. I just can't seem to find a low profile box that I like. It would be easy if I owned a double cab, but the crewmax wheel wells are in the way of any good size box.

UWS makes good boxes. Have had them on all of my trucks including my new tundra.

If you don't have too many tools, Undercover SwingCase is a good option. I have two and they hold surprisingly a lot of stuff. They are tucked away so I have not taken them off yet (they come off very easily) for hauling stuff. If you have tonneau cover, BAKBox is a good option that fits under the cover.

If you decide to go with a tonneau as well, here's my setup. It's a Diamondback HD tonneau with their crossbin. Works great and everything stays nice and dry-

Can you tell me which model Weatherguard you installed? Picking up my new truck this week. Concerned about the wheel wells location and which box actually fits? TKS

Here's a pic of my old box which is identical in size. It's perfect because it's not too big and doesn't stick out. I personally don't like the crewmax with a full tool box that sits on the rails.
Yes bolted to floor per instructions. Super easy.

I really want to put a tool box on my truck, but just haven't found one I like due to the size of the bed and where the wheel wells are in the bed. One that sits in the bed would be perfect, but I haven't been able to convince myself to drill through the bed.

How do you like this setup is it secure and where did you get it? Price?

I love this setup! It's very secure, plus there's room underneath it for long items to still fit in the bed. It's made by Diamondback Truck Covers and is rock-solid, but not inexpensive. Their covers vary considerably in price depending on which model you get and how much weight you want to haul on top. I paid $2500 for the tonneau (on sale) and IIRC the crossbin was another $400. Plus add in shipping from PA to wherever you are.

Alright, you guys that bolted your boxes to the bed floor have convinced me it will be alright. Since I get into some sketchy places for work, I think I'm going with one of these.

Ugly, but maybe I'll dip it or linex. What would be the best bolts? Carriage? Seems like it will be as secure of a box as I can buy. And not bad for 200 bucks.

That's a sweet box. I wouldn't be too concerned with painting it.
I like how it's lifted off the bed too.
I couldn't have a truck without some kind of toolbox. Keeps my inside so clean and not cluttered.

I got to thinking about how I have my hitch, tools and things in my cab with me and the family. What would happen with that stuff if I had a wreck. It's not secure and could fly all over the place. So just leave it nice and orange huh!

Didn't think about all that stuff flying around too. Another reason to get it out of there.

Well from the pic it doesn't look like it sticks up very high.
If it was maybe level with the top of the bed frame then I would paint it but if it's low, leave it.
    Just my opinion.

It's 32 long, 19 wide and 18.25 high. The bed is 22.5 high, so it will be a little over 4 inches shorter than the bed. it doesn't look like people use these for truck boxes to often, or at all, so the only way I've come up with to mount it in the back securely is with carriage bolts, smooth side up and nut under the bed.

I may do it in bed liner, but since my truck is black I'd be ok with the orange. I was just thinking about doing the lid so it wouldnt he too obvious for anyone walking by. Those feet are so wide, that it sits across the ridges

Nice! Looks like that strap is doing its job over those rocks. Did he bolt it too?
