Lived in PI from 84 to 87. Makati, Baguio City, Batac. My Tagalog/Ilocano is not so good anymore. Memory is 100%. Don't no why folks go to Hawaii, all you have to do is fly a few hours more and have a island to yourself for 1/4 the price. 100 Islands Nat'l Park , Pangasinan. Should have not said anything. Go ahead, go to Hawaii. Heh...heh. Nothing better than paying a lot of money for hotels/food and watching mid westerners get sun burned.

I hear you. Pampanga. Wow. The now closed Clark AFB, San Fernando, Angeles City, and the little 1991 incident: Mt Pinotubo eruption that kind of re-arranged things.

I would have left to. After Clark and Subic closed, lots of jobs lost. Then the eruption. With the Chinese making a major military presence in the South China Sea with little white house interference, The powers that be in PI are now realising that maybe having a US military presence again may not be a bad idea, after all our best ally is not Israel, it's always been the Phillippines since WW2. You know what I'm saying.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::oldglory::oldglory::oldglory:

Bayon Ko. Anak. Told you my memory is good. I knew Edo Manzano. My landlord Mario Dipasupil built Marlboro rally cars . Based out of Baguio. Edu was a sponsor and would race. Met Edu several times. Shared quite a few San Miguels with him. He had just broken up with Vilma Santos. Told you my memory is good. I left PI in 87, right after "Peoples Power". My ex was from Batac, not far from Paoay. Marcos country. I met the owner of Victory Liner in Laoag city. Can't remember his name now, but I do remember he had is own personal "army" for lack of better words. I was safe. Ilocos Norte had an NPA problem back them. A lot of areas were restricted to American tourists. I remember some South Korean road Engineers were kidnapped for ransom, unlike the radical "allegedly" M**lims today in the far south. They just beheaded a Canadian captive. Definitely time to send the US Marines down there again to kick some serious ass.

Not Victory Liner owner. Farinas Bus. Farinas. Federerico Farinas. He was a powerful dude under Marcos. Took me awhile to remember.
