Ive been kicking around the idea of purchasing a new second for fun. Ive been test driving a bunch of different cars and I keep coming back to the 2018-19 Subaru STI limited. The car is some much fun to drive and I love everything about it. I Feel pretty good about the price quote ive got from a dealer about 120 miles away. My plan is to put about half down. But I keep getting cold feet as i've never purchased a second car for fun, I love my tundra, but id like to change it up from time to time. I go back and fourth with telling myself to do it and not to.

Some of the background story pushing me to look at this is ive aways talked about a second car, recently I had a friend close to me past away in person and it got me thinking life is so very short and I need to make the most of it. Im in the position right now where I can afford to do this, and id like not to look back on my younger years down the road and say I wish I would have done this.
But then there is part of me that says to hold on to my money and not do it. It wont make or break me financially, I own everything I want out right. Its more or less a question is it the right thing to do with my $$

My question is has anyone felt this same way?
Did you end up driving your second car enough to justify the additional cost?
Did the feeling of cold feet go away after you purchased it?
The car could possibly sit from time to time, did you regret the purchase?

Hopefully that makes some sense, its driving me crazy.

    Thanks,

If I was going to have a fun second car, can’t go wrong with a Subaru STI. I would go different route for that kind of cash, but it’s my money.

I DD a Lexus and will never go back to DD a truck, even though I’m a big truck person.

I say do it. I have had multiple cars for years and it has come in handy many times. I have a daily driver and also fun vehicles that I have not ever even drove in the rain. Yeah sometimes they will sit for long periods of time but I'm ok with that.

I’d say go for it. If your not gonna bat an eye at the price, I would pull the trigger on it.

I have a few cars and they all serve their purposes. If the purpose of this car is to keep a smile on your face from your day to day life, do it.

The Sti would get better gas mileage then your tundra, so it would make an awesome daily.

My daily is an 04 matrix that gets close to double the mpg of my tundra, the money I save from not driving the tundra more then covers the additional cost of up keep on a second vehicle

If you do get another car, you have to promise me that you spend mod money on the tundra still

I had to do the edit, so o didn’t have to edit your reply. Lol

That’s right!!! You have a WS6. Totally forgot that little detail. One of my favorite all time cars was my 02’ FireHawk.

First of, I’m sorry to hear about your friend.

Secondly, I didn’t read through the whole reasoning but I was mainly looking for financial means. If you’ve covered all your financial obligations and you have extra flow. So my bottom line up front, I think you should get that car.

I damn near bought the FireHawk when I bought my TransAm fun cars. A funny story when I went to the dealership to test drive a used WS6 they had on the lot. I pulled in and just so happened a buddy that I rode street bikes with pulled in to drive it also so believe it or not they let us go together with a young sales man. We proceeded to put him in the backseat and my buddy was driving the sales man was holding the dealer tag up in the back window I can say it didn't take long before he dropped the tag and put on his seatbelt. We run the bag off of that car so bad he asked if we could roll down the windows so the tire smoke would clear out before we got back. Then when we got back he asked if I wanted to buy it I proceeded to tell him no I don't want this one I want a new one. Lol

    Atta boy!! Get some.

    Still stock(ish)?

I did something very similar in Florida when I purchased the corvette. Ragged out a base and then said “I want....that one”

Some of the best street cars out there for pure fun. Mine was 440HP to the ground without spray. Then it got in the mid 500's. That car was stupid fast.

For sure!!!! I had to put a Strange Engineering S60 rear axle in that car. 3 gearsets and the fourth on its way out....and went with 4.11 gears this time.

Just do it. If it were me, it would’ve already have happened. I have no will power and once I get a stupid idea in my head, it usually happens in a week or less. But I’ve never regretted any impulse buys. Life is just too short to have regrets. Only thing I might do differently is I probably wouldn’t get a Subaru. Like @ColoradoTJ I’d probably get a Vette now.
