Why do a lot of people replace the Entune Plus head units with used Entune Premium head units, instead of just buying an aftermarket unit from Alpine or whomever? $1500 is a LOT of $$$ for a factory head unit.

I am looking to upgrade the truck's audio sometime soon, so just trying to understand why people are doing certain things. In my old civic step #1 was remove factory head unit :)

My buddy added the premium one from the base edition. I think he found it for $100 and grabbed it.

Base edition is the Entune Plus, right? (no nav, Scout Link GPS etc)

Either way, $100 is a steal (looks like these are well over $2k for new part from dealer according to what I've seen online)

Maybe the backup camera? Not entirely sure. I was considering getting something aftermarket since I will be putting my audio stuff in hopefully next Sunday. I don't want to lose the backup camera, though.

Many of the double din units now support the backup camera (or at least the ones I have seen)

Ah ok. I'm not sure why someone would want to spend that much money then, unless they're one of those people that are weird and will only put OEM parts on their vehicle? Who knows. Hopefully someone will chime in because I'm curious as well.
