whats up guys, I welded my iron fence this past weekend and then sprayed the welds down with some black spray paint. Later that day when I got in my truck I noticed that all my windows had over spray. I took a clay bar the next morning and clayed all the windows. I was able to remove most of it but there is still plenty left, is there any way I can polish my glass? I bought some water spot remover from chemical guys that I was told would work, anyone have any experience with it?

Use some #0000 steel wool and glass cleaner for lube, it wont scratch the glass. If you pick up a piece of trash and damage the razor blade that will scratch the glass, and trust me you dont want to polish glass.........it sucks

Super fine steel whole. Use compressed air to remove the fines or vacuum, NOT Water..( Rust will happen), then glass cleaner. I painted cars when I was a young man. Happened all the time when you work for a production shop. beat'em to fit paint'em to match... LOL

I would try a clay bar/medium-heavy before doing anything abrasive.

All of the suggestions below have merit. Here are my thoughts...

IF you do the razor blade method there are two process versions I would suggest.

    1) Metal Razor Blade 45 degree angle, spray with glass cleaner, pull and lift.
Put at the starting point, spray, pull and lift. Going back and forth will scratch the glass.

    2) A plastic razor blade. A plastic razor blade will not/should not scratch glass.
Again, position the blade at 45 degrees, spray, pull the blade, lift and repeat.

I have used #0000 to clean chrome and as long as it is wet it seems fine.
However, it does create micro-scratches. It is abrasive. Choose other methods if possible.

Personally, I would use this as a more aggressive method. (if other methods do not work)
I prefer the least aggressive method to get the job done.

More aggressive clay may do the job if the overspray can be released from the surface.

Aggressive clays are abrasive but it may work for you. It may not cause glass scratches.

If it were me...Do you have a Dual Action (DA) Polishing machine?
If so, I would try Rain‑X® X-treme Clean™ FIRST with a compound pad.

I think of this as a compound for glass.
I have had great results removing overspray with this and a DA using a correction pad.
This product can be used by hand but your hands and arms may hate you. Remember...
You cannot accomplish by hand what you can accomplish with a machine.

IMHO This is an advanced technique and should only be used by "experienced" detailers.
For a novice, I would not suggest using a razor blade in a back and forth motion on glass or paint.
If so, not only use the sandpaper but also bend the blade points away from the edges.

You could try acetone for the windows. I use it alot and it removes paint easily just dont get it on anything you want to keep nice aka your vehicle paint. Apply some on a rag making sure its not dripping and wipe off the overspray from your windows.

If you use the razor blade in a wrong manner, or wrong angle, you can scratch the window...Just sayin....

I do have a DA polisher. I’m in Dallas and it’s been raining these past couple of days, as soon as it clears up I will go out there and give it a try. I will report back with my findings lol
