Extended Maintenance - worth it??

So I just did my 25,000 mile service. I got a card in the mail to extend the service plan for $329. Seems like it might be a decent deal, what do others think? At Toyota prices it may be but at regular shop prices, maybe not (???). Basically get the "big" 30K, 2 other tire rotations, and the 45K services.

 

That’s one thing I will also be thinking about when I get close to 30,000. You are right about Toyota prices against shop or DIY prices.

 

Shit I don’t even use the free on they give you when you buy now lol fuck Toyota and their incompetent out of hs/votec oil changers. I take mine to a well know mechanic, I pay 92$ for Mobil 1 oil change, just had the difs fluid changed and only cost me 84$, idk if it’s more but to know some 18,19,20 year old who doesn’t give a fuck about his job didn’t do it is a piece of mind for me.

With that said I did get the exatended one on my Tacoma lmao again worth it who knows

 

Just do your own maintenance. Then you know that it is done correctly. They don't put their best techs on oil changes.

Do it. One random job could eat that $329 up 10 times over. Just verify its real with the dealer.

 

I went ahead and did it. Even though on past vehicles I have always performed my own maintenance, I decided for the time being to let the dealership do it to ensure warranty and if I did decide to trade it in at some point I could do it as "Certified Pre-owned". Once the warranty is up I'll go back to doing it myself.

 

329 isn't too bad for those services, though DIY is relatively simple

 

the dealer gave me a card with my 20k service for the same but it was $289. Considered it for a second because my foot was acting up then. Foot is fine now so I will be changing it myself. It included 4 oil changes each at 5k which to me is not needed with todays synthetic oils even with a FFV that never sees more than 10% ethanol. I have better things to do with my time that sitting around that dealership waiting for my truck. Also have to explain to them that I am not buying their $35 cabin filter and oh by the way tell your guys not to pull it out because last time they the tore the side off of it.
