High mileage

What do you all think about this Tundra?
Does it have too many miles or is this ok?
From what I’ve read this isn’t that high...

Get the Carfax and ask the dealership for the service history... If green then go for it... You will easily get another 100k on it if it hasn't been beat up

 

As long as it has been maintaned properly you should have no problems with it. Check for frame rust.

Sign up for an account and put in the vin of the truck and see if it has service history from toyota dealers.

So...I’m pretty set on a tundra...but I have a 2015 Tacoma with 77k on it. I’ve put in about $2k into it but I really need/want the Tundra as it’s more spacious for us. The thing holding me back is the age of this thing and mileage...please help!!!

 

I looked at the specifications of your truck and the ring gear is 4.10. When I was looking at different tundras, those without the 4.30 ring gear towed at a lower rating. Not sure what you will use your truck for but a lower ring gear means MPGs are better though. With the options that are on it with the year that it is I think it's priced appropriate. When it is said and done it will come down to what you want. Hope this helps.

this is low mileage for a Tundra..heck we had a million mile 2007 Tundra

 

I’m just worried since I have a 2015 Tacoma with less miles...so I’d be trading for a truck 3 years older and with 30k miles more...but so far it seems like it’s worth it!

 

There is a member here who is selling his DC 2014 for 24k with 7xxxx mikes i think.

Miles don't matter that much IMO, condition is much more important.

Note that I bought a 2011 Tundra Double cab, 4wd with 56,000 miles on it for about that same price in May. Interior looked like a new truck, no dents, no major scratches(nothing that won't buff out), really nice paint, no rust, southern truck, no wrecks, 1 owner, dealer serviced every 5,000 miles, no bullshit. Only difference is mine has the 4.6 V8.

Also something to note on white trucks, its a single stage paint. If the previous owner didn't bother to wax it, it will look dull/chalky. This is easily fixable with a buffer, compound, and some time.

 

I traded in my 09 Taco in 2014 for my 07 Tundra that had 48K miles. I am now at 93007. That's nothing. The 12 you are looking at has relatively low miles. As already mentioned check car fax and enter Vin # on Toyota Owners site for any history. If good.....buy it.

 

Of course check all of the above issues. I got my Platinum, not for use as a daily driver mind you, at 185,000 from a snowbird...just barely broken in.

I sold my 96 Tacoma 4x4 Xcab with over 200,000; it had three issues over the entire 20 years I drove it (heater fan switch, speedometer cable, and starter solenoid contacts); I finally did the timing belt and water pump in the high 100,000's - water pump looked brand new. These things will run forever if taken care of; there is at least one Tundra with a million miles on it.

 

About average mileage per year and its 6 years old... warranty would have barely worn off. That truck will last you years. Granted that's being sold on the east coast where you occasionally get weather, check the frame for rust, lean on them for a full service, pop in some new plugs and drive off.

 

Yep^^^and 90Kish is time for tranny service. Get that done free too before you drive off the lot!

What kind of service would you ask them for? And how do you know they actually do it before selling it to me?

 

I bought my '10 last about a year ago with 67k miles without hesitation.

It had lived all it's life in the same town and had all it's service done at the Toyota dealership there.

Just picked up a '08 Lexus RX 350 with a tick over 100k for the Mrs. Same story, one owner, lived all it's life local, all service done at the dealer and a folder full of receipts to show for it. Again, didn't hesitate due to Toyota's/Lexus reputation and the care/condition of the vehicle.

It's a great way to save a TON of $$$ and drive a vehicle you have some confidence in.

There's a lot of vehicles out there just like that. Be patient and do your due diligence and you'll be fine.

 

That mileage wouldn't scare me, but the price on a "Grade" trim seems a bit high. The Grade trim is the absolute bare bones stripped down model. Not even carpet on the floors.

 

Unfortunately they wouldn't budge on doing any of the service I asked for.

 

I don't think that's a bad deal. My 2008 has 137k on it and still runs like new.
