Anyone want to check out Spangler Hills and Trona Pinnacles with us?? I'm not gonna plan routes for this one. We're just gonna wheel around and explore. We've never been there, but it looks super fun. Show up Friday afternoon and go home Sunday morning.

    We piss excellence.

    Gear requirements for this trip:
    · 4wd truck in excellent condition with all terrain or mud tires.
    · Spare fuel, at least 5 ga
    · Full size spare and tools to change it.
    · Solid recovery points front and rear.
    · Complete backcountry camping setup. We will camp in extremely remote areas with no services available.
    · Make sure you have enough water (1 gallon per person per day duh).
    · Bring as much firewood as you can.

    Confirmed:
    · @osidepunker Alex solo (2nd gen 4wd Tundra) Arriving 12pm Fri
    · @01erionracing Jimmy and son (1st gen 4wd Tundra) Arriving 7-8pm
    · @Stewie Matt (3rd gen 4wd Tundra) Arriving 2-4pm Fri
    · @DividedSky Jeff (3rd gen 4wd Tundra) Arriving 12pm Fri
    · @sdde4n Dean, arrival Fri 4-5pm

    Tentative:
    Jeff's friend Kyle
    @Spolar Zac

    Meals:

Fri Dinner: Jeff, fried rice and spicy cummin beef skewers
Sat Breakfast: Matt, egg, sausage breakfast croissant sandwiches
Sat Dinner: Jimmy, egg rolls and spicy noodles
Sun Breakfast: Alex, chorizo breakfast burritos

Disclaimer: This isn't a for-profit or organized event. We are just a group of homies who enjoy wheeling and camping and we are always looking to meet new friends. We help each other with breaks and stucks and we never leave anybody behind.

Put me in the tentative spot. I’ve been trying to make one of your runs and this might be it! Should know in a few days.

Maybe create another category under Tentative called "Wannabe" and throw my name on there. This looks like a pretty remote corner of the state that I'd never visit in a million years if you all hadn't given me a reason. I'll blame the truck, but the driver likely isn't up to it yet either.

haha! So you want me to have "Confirmed", "Tentative", and "Wannabe"???

I'll tell you what, I'll create a category called, "Breaking it in" LOL

Seriously though, I don't expect any technical trails or pinstripes. It should be all easy desert trail. But I have never been there so I can't guarantee it. With that said, as long as you have good tires (and spares) and don't push your truck past its limits, you'll be just fine.

The first time I ever wheeled my truck it was bone stock and I drove a hundred miles through Anza Borrego desert solo

Well, then I'll start thinking seriously about a full-size spare. I think that's the only thing from the list that I'm missing. Maybe add me to "tentative" then.

I'm told the only thing worse than stock suspension is a "spacer lift/levelling kit", which I have. Deal-breaker?

Yeah dude the last guy I wheeled with that had a spacer lift was last April at Tundras to Sedona. We did some mild forest road and 10 minutes into the trail he collapsed his coilover and had to limp back to camp

Over the years I've seen several collapsed coilovers due to spacer lifts. I wouldn't recommend it at all

I wait for everyone at the turns ;)

I hear ya. I sure as heck don't want a mechanical issue way the heck out there too. Okay, so back to the "Wannabe" list I go.

You definitely don't need to have a built truck to wheel with us. I've wheeled with stock and 2wd truck before. Hell I've even did a whole big bear trip in my gf subaru outback

But in this case, a spacer lift is bad. You would be much better off to return it to stock. A stock suspension would be way more reliable off road.

Let me know if you need help removing it

A little of this and a little of that. Its pretty run of the mill.
Eventually there’ll be a turn and Alex will have his chair out with a few empties on the ground. He’s a patient MF’er.

    Eh, just stay out of:

Independence trail, specifically Patriot. You may be able to do Liberty, depending on how much you like paint and body panels.

    Carnage Canyon, Buena Vista

Topless, Calamity, Death Row, Boulder Canyon, Die Trying, Cactus Ridge. Montrose
Probably just best to not even stop here.

    10 Falls, Gypsum
This is the craziest trail in CO. I will not be going back in there.

Some trails in Rangely might not work well either.

Other than those, you can do most other trails, depending on width and paint/body panels.
