TSS relocation mount alternatives

In the spirit of ensuring alternative viable options are known, I'm making this thread (and duplicates if need be) so that individuals that are new to the site, or that may not know it themselves, have all pertinent & relevant information about viable alternative relocation brackets if they decide to upgrade their grills (long sentence, take a breath). I have nothing to gain from any of these vendors, but rather enjoy learning about my vehicle(s) and thoroughly enjoy helping others.

Those of you may be asking, "who's this FNG stirring the pot?!?!" I'm just that, the FNG to Tundras. But I'm not that guy to Titans. If you look me up on TitanTalk https://www.titantalk.com/forums/members/64007-cuban11182.html#/userprofile/64007?page=2 , you'll see a guy that has tried Radflos, Fox 2.0, Bilstein 5100, Kings, Dirt King UCA, MetalWorx UCA, Hypertech, BDGT, UPRev, and numerous exhausts. What can I say? I change my mind like I change my underwear. I'm an engineer for the Coast Guard, have been the Chief Engineer of two of our ships. I have fabrication tools (lathe, mill, welders) at home and at work (lathe, mill, waterjet, Boss laser (sweet!!)), so I'd like to think I know a little, but at the same time I'm humble enough to know that I too can be wrong and that I DON'T know everything. I additionally have a stroked 300hp/321tq carbureted CJ7 that is a project vehicle, but have had numerous others (85 Shelby Charger, 89 Shelby Daytona, 91 Thunderbird 5.0, and 91 Eclipse GSX) "I wanna go FAST!"

Now on to the good stuff. For those that have a 2018+ with TSS and want to change out their grills, you will find that you need to relocate the sensor found behind the front emblem. Speaking with others much more knowledge than me, it isn't something you should just slap on without taking into consideration the consequences of re-engineering a safety system in a vehicle. This isn't a horn you can just put in and expect it to work as it should. There are angles and asmuth and unicorn blood that all have to be right for them to work. Through trial and error, you could get it to work, but my advice is to use caution moving forward and trust in individuals who have taken into consideration these important requirements. Furthermore, water has refraction capability which can throw the sensor for a loop and cause errors. Placing anything in front of the sensor, that was not made to be there (and no matter how super slippery you can make it with lube) may cause errors that can lead to a failure or cause the system to not work as intended. Please be careful. When you have to sign a liability waiver you should ask yourself if you had to do it when you bought your truck.

The first option is the 3D printed setup. With this one you can buy it straight from the engineer that designed it (and that's worked for Ford, Chevy and Dodge) and it'll come with all the hardware and components needed to mount, or you can purchase it from the website and then piece together the rest. Another alternative is the JoMax mount. I personally have no experience in this, but it looks very robust, and well made. I hope those who have this setup will let us know their thoughts on it after use.

If I've missed any alternatives to the one located on this forum, I apologize. Please let me know what else is out there so I can add them to the list.

In closing, do your research. It's your money to spend how you want, but the more you can save (responsibly) on one MOD allows you to spend it on another. Additionally excuse any grammatical errors as I did this on my phone.

To answer your question, I chose the first one in the left. You create an account and you can choose all the options (colors, material, thickness, fineness of print) and then pay. The files get sent to a printer, they print it, and send it to you once done.

First you need to learn how to read, I didn't create this, I bought it. I DIDN'T design it, or anything, so I'm not sure how I copied it. Maybe he copied JoMax? If he's really patent pending his legal team will be reaching out to everyone soon.

Next I stated that I wasnt going to to throw anything on my truck without knowing what it does and how it works. Besides, there are pictures all over of what he makes, not very difficult to copy strap steel and hardware.

Finally, I don't care what people do with their money, I just want them to know there are others options that are cheaper that do the same thing. To each their own.

As far as the wave, I have a CJ7: a REAL Jeep. I don't need to be included in your little cool club that allows or doesn't allow me to wave.

I've had this installed for 2,000 + miles and it works like a champ. Funny how you didn't mention his bracket but why would you? I'm with @ToyotaTundraMike , you sir (@Cuban11182 ), are an a$$hole!

 

Because these are alternatives that others may not know about.

 

Plus it seems like you were really hung up on the cost of @ARES bracket but no mention of the high cost of the jomax customs compared to the 3d printed option.

 

If you don't like someone's product or think the cost is more that you would like to pay just move on, don't bash and create threads to be a dick. I have no problem giving people options but this post was created for one purpose in my opinion.

I am the original Creator of the 3D printed bracket and did not intend for any of this conversation and controversy. I am using this, it works on my truck and decided to share it to help those with the means to help themselves.

Unfortunately in true internet fashion though some people spoil it for the group. Like the mod above said this is getting to be like a shit show like TW turned into...

I'd like to appologize to @ARES and the mods for this. If you would like please take down any posts with my design or mention of it. It's not worth the time or effort for me to deal with this crap.

 

In my personal opinion, you did NOTHING wrong, you were trying to help out and that is greatly appreciated by me and for sure by a lot of other members, just my two cents
