A while back I installed a Kenwood DNX893S on my 2008 CM. It had the JBL system and still has those speakers. I love the unit and would like to replace the factory speakers. At this point I am looking for speaker recommendations only. I might be open to an amp later, but would like to do the speakers first. When I begin to look I get confused by ohms and all the other terminology.

For instance, I was looking at these but have no idea if they are compatible with my stereo.

    Can someone help me? Thanks!

    Hello!

what kind of music do you listen to? do you have a subwoofer? if not, are you going to? Lastly, what is your budget?

Hey there! Thanks for the reply!

I listen to all kinds of music from Jazz, modern country, rock ... you name it. I have the subwoofer that came with the JBL unit in my truck. I would prefer to not add an aftermarket. Lastly, I'm not sure on the budget. I am not the type to notice a huge difference, so if I can keep below $500 that would be good, but I'd prefer to not even spend that much.

    Thanks man!

I'm a Huge fan of "HERTZ" for speakers, their deici, and energy speakers are affordable but amazing sound reproduction. JLaudio makes some nice speakers too in the upper line. I'll go show you some links to speakers

you happen to know what speaker size you have? i know what fits in a 2018, but unsure if your speakers are a different size.

Sorry man, a little late on the response. Looks like you found the speaker size, lol. Thank you!

I have heard good things about Hertz. I hadn't looked at them but had been eyeballing some Focal's also. I do have a question ... what is that little black box that seems to come with just about all speakers? That has me confused. I'm not sure what it's for.

Thanks so much for putting some time into this for me!

Stereo upgrades: -HU, Pioneer Mvh bs501 -Tweeters, Peerless(vifa) XT25SC90-04 1" Dual Ring Radiator s in custom pods. -Mids, Silver Flute W17RC38-04 6.5" Wool Cone Woofer. -Subwoofer, American Bass XR12. 2.3^3ft tuned @33-34 hz. -Tw Amp, Old School 2ch Sony. -Mids Amp, Old School Autotek Sx275. -Sub Amp, Old School Memphis 16-pr1.1000 -Zero gauge big 3. 0 and 4 gauge copper runs to amps.
Thats a crossover. It pretty much seperates the bass and trebble and then directs them to the speaker best built for those frequency.

High trebble is routed to tweeters.
Mid/bass will be sent to your woofers or sub woofer.

Hertz and Focal both make some of the most amazing speakers you can buy. Theres no wrong choice with those. And some other brands that are great and will make it even harder to choose!

    Rainbow
    Audio Frog
    Stereo Integrity
    Arc Audio

If you have a budget you want to stay under it will help a lot more when selecting speakers. As the above examples show the prices can get ridiculous.

@Twinky gotcha! Those other brands are good as well.

@digdug - do you know what is powering your speakers? the jbl amp or the new headhunt?

will make a difference on the amount of speakers you'll be buying (i'm assuming the JBL is powering them)???

A friend of mine wired it ... I believe it's just the headunit, but I am not sure. That was helpful, eh? lol

I am not good at this stuff.

it's helpful to know how it is wired to help you purchase the proper amount of speakers... is your friend going to install the speakers for you? that would be a good question to ask him....but 2 component set of speakers would suffice for you.

Do you want just the front doors or the rear as well?
