Opinions and Advice WANTED! yes another 2015 Crew Max Super White Chrome Delete

Hello all!

So any and all of you are welcome to give advice/two cents/experiences in here. I am looking to delete my chrome from my bumpers/grill on my truck. I have been searching for awhile on here for answers but nothing has "hit me" as "do this."

I am wondering what is the most cost effective way to delete the Chrome from my bumpers? I am not trying to be cheap, just have a limited budget at this time. Short of finding someone on here who has a Super White TRD pro that is willing to trade bumpers and grill for mine, it appears it may be best just to buy new Pro grille and bumpers then get the surround and bulge colored matched?

I was looking at possibly wrapping them in vinyl, saw plasti dipping is an option but not a true color match, Etc. I have a feeling I should just wait until I have the funds to either have them painted, or buy PRO grille and bumpers and sell all my chrome stuff.

I just had mine done like a month ago. I had them wrapped in 3m. Matching the paint of my truck

I'm thinking about wrapping mine also, where did u go and cost ?

 

I had a friend of a friend do it. But any tint place can do it. Friend charged me 100$ tint place told me 12$ a square foot.

Do yourselves a favor. Buy a paint gun from Habor Freight ($30 with coupon), Order color match paint, primer and clear from automotive touchups ($180 1 quart each), Remove bumpers, strip off chrome, clean, clean, clean. Start painting. You dont need any special skills. You'll be happy you did!

Ive dont door handles, bumer ends, Hood Bulge, rear bumpers. TRD pro grille came painted white!

 

Has anybody bought/installed the bumper end caps from partsgeek? All four for around $250. Matte black in color, with or without sensor holes. I'm thinking about it but would like to get some feedback as to quality, fit and finish.

Thank you, I think I am leaning towards just having them wrapped. It is a less expensive option and I can always remove the wrap if I want to have the Chrome back (though likely not going to happen). LOL

 

Wrap you have to replace like 2 or 3 years. Food for thought.

 

I just went for it...I bought the paint matched TRD Pro grill, hood bulge and bumper ends from @Roman. I looked into wrapping, dipping but figured a color matched set was the way to go. I'm still waiting for it all to get here and when it does I'll post some pics.

Hey Lawrence, those lights look familiar...ha ha. How do you remove the chrome from the metal bumper corners to prep for paint? I agree with spraying. I did my grille surround and mirror caps. I've primed the front bumper corners but it's gonna fail 'cause I've got chrome underneath.

Are u running spacers? Also what size are your tires, looks nice.

 

To get rid of the chrome use a 160grit sand paper and a sander to make it easier. Then then 600 and put your primer over the 600 grit. Using any good primer will allow for best adhesive

 

I'm running 1 1/4 wheel spacers, 5100 bilstein on top setting plus one coach builder shim. Tires are 305/70/18

 

Kill the Chrome!!!

 

Thanks, that's pretty much what I did but I think I should've used self etching primer like I did on the grille, that stuck really well! Fyi, I've been sending headlight shoppers your way.

Not including what is ready to be fabbed such as:
hard wire radar dedector
hard wire CB Radio and fab in center console
De-badge truck
London Break light/reverse Mod (change Reverse lights to flashing amber/white instead of Entire red brake light flashing on indicator).

 

Were the spacers needed? Or was it to achieve the look you wanted?

 

I got ordered the Pro Grille color matched all ready. I took the chrome bumpers off and had them powder coated for $275 including tax, that was for all 4.

 

So Update - Roof is now black, bumpers are black, and this Saturday the grill will be black. Storm Troopers engage. Pics to come next week.

I also bought the center console divider for now to organize my console better. I also decided that 31 inch bar in the bullge was too small and bought a 41 inch!

@Roman I believe I PM'd you in the past about muffler/exhaust. I know you are probably busy - Ill send you another one! Basically looking for a slight change in sound.
