Best Pass-Thru Boot for Camper Tops

I just bought a 2016 Tundra CrewMax, which has the power rear window. I also ordered an A.R.E. Z series cap with a tilt down sliding front window. My intention is to purchase some sort of boot to connect the windows from my truck cab to my front cap window. This way, I can run my air conditioning through to the bed on hot days and my dogs will be comfortable. The problems I am running into is...


A) Because my entire cab window slides down, many truck boots are not big enough to go around it
B) I have heard that all boots will leak


Do any of you know of a boot that is large enough to work with the Tundra's power window. If so, have you heard whether or not they are having problems with keeping a seal?

Just let them ride in the back seat and put your junk in the way back.

Seriously though, I have seen what might work for you on my buddies old truck. It looks like it was designed for use when the front window of the top is removed. It is not inflatable like many I have seen. It is clear and looks almost like silicone rubber. It installs right at the outer edge almost to the point of making the joint flush from cab to camper shell.

I was under the impression that the boots sealed to the paint of the truck. Also I think when ordering your shell you can have them integrate it into the cost of the shell and have it already attached to it. Also a small amount of 3M tape on your paint will keep the boot from chafing. I didn't think the opening of a double cab was any different than the opening of the crew Max just the crew Max window rolls down. I think they all leak a little bit but how often are you running your AC in the rain?

 

Though, I haven't tried it yet, I have also thought about how to make this work. The only way that I could come up with is to use the split, pipe insulation that is inexpensive and is probably available in all hardware stores. It is relatively soft and hopefully would not harm the paint. By the way, I just picked up my new Leer cap 2 weeks ago and the instructions warn to be careful with the paint for 90 days. Do not use a high pressure washer on it, don't wipe it with a cloth, etc, etc.

I remember they used to make a sleeve that connected the two windows, but I've only seen them for small windows. These weren't inflatable.

 

...and you don't think three labs 70, 65 & 55 pounds don't make a mess. Marathon Seat covers all the way around and a custom dog sling.

 

Well if you are good with it, good on you. But not me man. He shakes his head and slobber goes everywhere. Im constantly washing his slobber off the side if my truck just from him being around it. Love that dog though

 

Thank you all for the replies. I think that after all of this, I am just going to leave the gap between the cap and the truck cab and not worry about what air conditioning gets lost. I've heard so many horror stories about the different boots, that I just don't want to risk it. But again, I appreciate all of you taking the time to try to help.

 

I've used an inner tube before, likely a 21" motorcycle tube. It seems as if the sound was still a nuisance unless there was something denser like a towel laid in between the cab and bed.
