Why does 4.6 only get 1mpg better than 5.7?

    I've been trying to figure out why the 4.6 gets only 1 - 2 mpg more than the 5.7. I known they run different rears and looked at the specs on the 6 speed auto trains. Not much different.

    That motor has to work a lot harder to get your big ass truck moving than the 5.7 liter

    I agree with TruckyTruck I had a 4.6 in my old truck and the engine had to work a lot harder to move the truck - its just so heavy. I have a buddy who only buys the 4.6 because when he lifts it 10+ inches it gets better gas mileage then the 5.7

    Not only that, but say you're cruising @70mph in the 5.7...the 4.6 has to work harder to maintain that speed
