For those who'd like to know, the Sparks Parts Tundra Grab Handle Kit part number is PKTUNGRAB. It fits all 2007 - 2018 Tundra models and comes with the grab handle, "A" pillar cover and:

    • 1 - 1.5” long ¼”x 20 hex bolt
    • 1 - ¼” flat washer
    • 1 - extruded U-Type nut ¼”x 20
I'm tired of holding onto the steering wheel and/or side pillar to get in the truck, or sliding my fat bottom across the leather seat and wearing it thin while trying to get out. I'm waiting on my parts to deliver, can't wait to install it!

It is funny to me, that my post directly above yours, suggested M6x1 and explained why I didn't use 1/4 x 20 .. I even contacted Sparks Parts about it but they didn't care.
I'll just have to leave this one alone.

I love my handle, it made all the difference.

    Enjoy it, and take care.

(And for God's sake eiraved, order $2 worth of m6x1 hardware and take that 1/4" crap out of your truck! )

    ..

Believe me, my post wasn't placed there intentionally. I was looking into getting the handle and came across a kit part number which wasn't noted previously in TundraDad's post or anywhere else on this thread. My interest was solely in sharing this info with others and not placed to belittle your post, although it does appear that way LOL!

You may (or may not) believe this, but my plan was always to make sure there was plenty of clearance for any possible air bag deployment. Last thing I need is for my addition to become a safety issue! The hardware definitely won't be installed if clearance becomes a concern.
I do love my Toyota, but at the end of the day SAE hardware works just as good as metric hardware strengthwise for a grab handle!

Well,,, you got me on that one!!!

( Except, it actually starts working at the beginning of the day, and doesn't wait until the end )...

Here is a picture of m6x1 vs. what Sparks Parts sent in the "kit" (SAE 1/4"x20). You can see that the u-nut is ridiculously wide, and the bolt is beyond long ,,, which in my case, was a problem concerning the airbag.

(The picture doesn't do justice of how huge this actually is compared to the Fastenall m6x1)

    Just my opinion...

Thanks for the fun times, I laughed my @$$ off about your reply. Later bro.

[Edit- I can see it now, somebody is going to JB weld a nut on the back side and it be all the rage ..haha]...

Nice pictures, what kind of camera are you using? No worries tho, I'd rather hear your opinion as you may have caught something I missed.
It appears the SAE u-nut is about 1/8" longer than the metric, which may or may not be a big deal in this application. I'll definitely follow up on that and post it on this thread. The bolt on the other hand isn't a problem, as that can easily be trimmed down to match the metric bolt's length or to the most convenient length for this application.

Enjoy your new Tundra bro, I recently bought mine as well and look forward to seeing what else I can do to it!

Well, nut is probably 3/16th+ longer but it was midnight and the tape measure wouldn't lay right...

(...and that was my 5 year old HTC phone taking the picture. I think it is the clearest picture it has ever taken .. its only a 3 or 4 MP ,,, lmfao. !!!)

Side note, off topic: I wanted your grille. Mine is a 16' and I couldn't find any 18' grilles earlier this year so I went with the TOYOTA Pro one which came out OK, but I still like the honeycomb though.

Sparks came out to $172 shipped to Dallas. Is Roman’s better priced?

Likely the FEDX rate isn't adjusted much for the extra 1200 miles... UPS would have had a better rate. Haven't been impressed with FEDX as of late.

Received and installed. Easy 15m job.

I finally received my driver's side handle and it was installed in 20 minutes, only because I wanted to take some pictures. I found out from a previous post that the airbag deploys rearwards to protect the driver's head by covering the driver's side window. Because the additional hardware used for the handle is forward of the airbag, it will not interfere with a rearward airbag deployment. But, to err on the side of safety, I did apply a piece of foam between the clipnut and airbag in case of airbag deployment as it was about 1/8" away from the airbag.

i have a '12 i feel like the handle is more on the inside closer to the windshield rather then on the front part near your face like you see in OPs post. still dont think it would matter. where would you mount it then? does it fit in the stock tundra spot.

my chevy had a bad airbag sensor (because its a chevy) and they didnt go off when i totaled my truck. i prefered it that way lol (jk safety is important)

I really wanna do this. Anyone have luck getting one at a junk yard? Junk yards are few and far between around here, not like they are in Texas or out west. If anyone can find a deal on one (or two ) of these when your are looking, I'd gladly pay you for your time and shipping for one.
